  • 2010 SDSU NFL Players

Looking forward to the start of the 2010 Jacks season but I also figured that NFL camps will be starting up soon so I wanted to keep track of former SDSU players.

    Adam Vinatieri - K - Colts
    Last year with Jacks: 1995

Future HOF missed most of 09 with injuries. Should be ready to go for 2010.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steve Heiden - TE - FA
    Last year with Jacks: 1998

Steve went down with a knee injury last year with the Browns. The 10 year vet has caught 13 TD's, mostly as a backup blocking TE. He was released in March, I'm not sure if he is actively looking to join a team or if he plans on retiring.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Parker Douglass - K - Dolphins
    Last year with Jacks: 2007

Parker has had several try outs with teams since graduating. I believe he has been in camp with the Browns & Jets. This spring he had a tryout with the Dolphins. He played in the UFL last year and it looks like there is a good chance he will end up there again this year playing for Sacramento.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Mitch Erickson - G - Seahawks
    Last year with Jacks: 2007

Mitch spent the past 2 years on the Denver Broncos practice squad. He was signed by Seattle in the offseason and is looking to make their roster this year as a back-up.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Danny Batten - LB - Bills
    Last year with Jacks: 2009

Danny was drafted in the 5th round. He's been getting good reviews in camp and should see action on special teams and possibly be a 2nd string LB for the Bills.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Casey Knips - T - Cardinals
    Last year with Jacks: 2009

Casey is in camp with the Cards and will be looking to make a roster spot. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the practice squad.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Casey Bender - G - Browns
    Last year with Jacks: 2009

Casey signed as a FA after the draft and will be in camp with the Browns.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris Johnson - LB - Cardinals
    Last year with Jacks: 2009

Chris went to mini-camp with the Bears but i believe he was cut. Last I heard was that he was invited to the Cardinals training camp.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glen Fox - WR - Packers
    Last year with Jacks: 2009

Glen had a mini-camp try out with the Packers but didn't make the cut. I'm not sure if he will end up in a team's training camp or not.

LB Chris Johnson (#43) got some playing time in tonights preseason game. Even though he didn't record any stats you can see him briefly in this video. Looks like he was playing in the 2nd quarter which could be a good sign.

This highlight shows Casey Bender (#72). Not the best highlight though since Casey's man bullrushes him and ends up injuring Colt McCoy. Also was playing in the 2nd qtr.

Video shows RG Mitch Erickson (#61) in action.

Looks like Casey Knips was cut today by Arizona.

If he didn't make it past the first cut,he probably will not be a practice squad cadidate.

It appears that Chris Johnson was not among the group of players cut by Arizona yesterday.

Unfortunately, the Cards did cut Chris Johnson today, per hartleyshuddle on Twitter, along with Matt Leinart.

Casey Bender has signed to a futures/reserve contract with the Colts. Not sure what that all entails, but congrats to him. Also noticed they signed former Bison Kole Heckendorf to a futures contract.

                    http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...on-roster.html

That makes 4 former Jacks in the pros

                    K - Vinatieri - Colts
                    T - Bender - Colts
                    OLB - Batten - Bills
                    MLB - Johnson - Bears

Not sure if Chris Johnson would get a Super Bowl ring or not, but I'm cheering for the Bears to win the whole thing just incase he does. Going to be hard though since I'm Vikes fan, but not as hard as it would be if I had to cheer for the Pack.

Didn't see this anywhere else --

Congrats to Casey Bender, who signed to the Detroit Lions practice squad.

Was cool to see Cochart play, except he missed a pass and got called for holding. Didnt see Batten in the Bills game but was fun to watch teams of SDSU guys in the NFL.

I'm pretty sure I saw Batten in week 1 ago however it was hard to tell considering I think the Bills have the record for the most LB/DE that around about the same height and weight that are white. There was times when I thought it was him then it wasn't and others when I didn't think it was him and saw the back of the jersey and it was him.

Saw all of Cochart game this past week, saw him a lot. seemed like every punt return he was the first one to help their returner up.

Batten recovered an Oakland fumble, and is getting some serious playing time based on the stats sheet. Don't believe he's starting, but he's a key cog of the Buffalo D.

What SDSU players are activated this season?

                              Cochart, TE, Cin. Bengals
                              Batten, JLB, Buf. Bills
                              Vinateri, K, Ind. Colts
                              Domino?, LB, Den. Broncos (IR)

                              Others?
