10-1 is not the same. I am talking about total conference and regional dominance. 6 NC appearances, 2 NC's and the most wins of any team in D1. The conduct of the program as an argument is a total straw man. We have really, really, really good teams year after year, and after getting beat up enough times by someone, you will get angry. Its called David Vs. Goliath. No one likes the Goliath, but until someone else in the west steps up to challenge the Griz, there will be plenty of hate. Take a look at a lot of the CAA posters on these various boards.....We have never played them outside of the playoffs, and have had zero interaction with them otherwise. They really don't like Montana...You know why? Complete dominance...No one out here has been able to touch us for a decade...from any conference, and that makes people angry.
Hey GrizMonster, I can tell you from personal experience that your comments are valued on here lower than mine, and I am a Coyote fan. The fans of this school, along with ours, at least understand the word integrity. In fact, if other schools were to model their athletic business plan like ours, a contract would be dealt with and sealed by a handshake.
There was an NFL franchise a few years back that reminds me of Montana. It is the Oakland Raiders. Had their dominant time, their bad a$$ fans, and cocky aura. But once they were flushed down the toilet, then they were never to be heard from again. I am hoping that SDSU is the team that flushes you down a toilet. This team is good, and I don't think you have the proper respect for them that you should.
Jack fans, get your butts to Missoula. Enjoy the fruits of labor for which you have toiled. Win the game, and get ready for round 2. It's time someone with integrity takes down a team or program that lacks it.
My prediction: Jacks 27 Griz 24 ( 2 OT )
Congrats to all those in here on your teams success. Job well done.
Re: Congratulations Jacks! Welcome to Griz Country!
Like what was said before, everybody hates Goliath. The hatred of some can be expected, they buy-out of the return trip ranks up there, for me the most annoying was the fake punt for a first down, late in the fourth quarter, with the game well in hand by the Griz last time we were out there. Maybe it was retribution by the Griz, because of the game the year before, where we all know, especially the Griz, if it were not for some missed oppurtunities, the Jacks would have won the game, instead a 7-0 loss. (if that is not poor sentence structure, I don't know what is.) What's in the past, is in the past.
I don't think we will be intimidated at all by the Griz's record or crowd. We've played a tough schedule and have played in front of a big crowd already with the Gopher game. Although, I've been to the Griz stadium and that is certainly tough. The weather will be fine for us. I actually think there could have been worse draws. They might have an edge in speed, but I don't believe they will run us off the field like some teams have hurt us. It will be a battle, they Jacks have faired pretty well when faced with similiar situations in the recent past. It wasn't too long ago when the Jacks took out a team with the same "lofty" status and even higher aspirations. That team of course was going to a FBS bowl game since they weren't playoff eligible. We all know how that turned out.
It will be a great game, I just hope I can find it on television or internet somewhere so that I may enjoy it.
Re: Congratulations Jacks! Welcome to Griz Country!
I don't get this "edge in speed" that everyone always says we give up. I don't recall, and I may be wrong, but I don't remember any FCS game this year that the other team was clearly faster than us. True, there might be a player on the other team that is faster than somebody on our team, but that happens in every game every year no matter what team you are talking about. There may be teams that have more players that run 40's faster than our team does. How many 40 yard dashes actually occur in a game. If I am mistaken, I will admit it, but I just don't recall us having a speed disadvantage, other than MN and that just proves that pure speed does not mean a big advantage in a football game.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can never teach a stupid dog anything.
You can think whatever you want...but, we beat a team handily you guys lost to at home, our conference got 3 teams in the playoffs, and now you have to come to the toughest place to play in the entire FCS. This is the same argument we got last year when we made the NC...How many play off teams did you guys have wins over this season?
Hey, don't mind passive-aggressive posting as long as it is factual.... But you've got some serious revisionism going on here... Montana gave up 317 yards, trailed Poly 10-0 at home early and 17-14 at the half, and won by 12 with 21 4th-quarter points. Not exactly winning "handily." And as pointed out elsewhere, Jacks played Poly on the road, not at home, and SDSU lost its starting QB and top-shelf DE in the middle of the game.
Re: Congratulations Jacks! Welcome to Griz Country!
Dead on, FirstRowFANatic. A few years ago that speed knock was accurate. Not anymore. Skilled positions or not, we've matched up fairly well with everyone we've played the past year or so. In our previous contests with the U of Montana, the most glaring difference was that they had many more scholarshiped athletes on their side of the field. When one of their guys went out another quality guy came in. We didn't have that luxury. Well, we do now.
'Some' would not be the proper adjective to describe the level of trash talk that will be heaped on Montana this week.
As mentioned, SDSU institutionally does not care for Montana football, and the fans generally mirror that sentiment.
Let's just put it this way: There is no easier way to get a laugh out of anyone in the SDSU athletic department than by suggesting that the football team play Montana.
And it's not because SDSU is afraid of Montana. Its indicative of the level of contempt for the program.

Sorry you're caught in the crossfire; I'd advise you avoid defending the felony charges filed against Montana players, the deceitful conduct of Montana's AD, the Montana hegemony over Big Sky football, etc.
You are a whiny little bitch. By the way, nobody in Montana cares if you don't care for Montana or if your athletic department laughs about playing the Griz. In fact most people will probably laugh that your program has made the playoffs once in 30 years.
Re: Congratulations Jacks! Welcome to Griz Country!
So we bought out of your little home game. It was a clause in the contract and we used it. Give it up scooter! Your team got the $$$ with out Grizzlies going over there and messing up your field.
I feel kinda sad for some of you guys. So tainted with bitterness. It must suck to go through life with such negativity.
I think I know whats bothering you all. The first time you get in the FCS playoffs you get paired with the Maroon Machine. Thereby offering little hope of seeing second round play. Well flatlanders, that is not the Grizzlies fault. Redirect your stinky desperation elsewhere.
To those SDSU fans who are objective and mentally balanced: I am certainly excited to see your football team in action. I hear the Jack Rabbits have a strong defense. I hope that the game is well played and not a blow-out on either side. Looking forward to the game on Saturday. Good luck and best wishes!
