New Stadium Suggestion

We all know that the Athletic Department is in the early stages of designing a new stadium. It is my hope that in the new stadium there is a "Ring of Honor" to recognize the past Jacks. I would love to see something similar to what the Cowboys in Dallas do with the name and number.

I, for one, would love to be able to someday take my son to the game and point to the names of the guys that I watched play and the guys that I went to school with and am honored to call friends.

I remember seeing a special on Texas A&M and they showed the their football facilities. One thing I remember thinking was pretty cool was in the players study/hangout room was an NFL jersey of each player that had moved on from Texas A&M. That was pretty cool to see all the past players. It makes you wonder if the current SDSU players know much about Pete Retzlaff or Jim Langer.

If their were a ring of honor, what players would make it?

Is this an SDSU ring of honor or an entire football career ring of honor? Because I would argue that an all conference punter (Vinny) doesn't belong in the ring of honor for his play at SDSU. Mind you he was replaced multiple times by a lineman to covert PAT's. Pro Football Hall of Fame - Yes. Jackrabbit Ring of Honor - I don't think so.

Interesting post 6-4-3. Based on what you shared it will be interesting to see what happens when Adam V. is eligible for consideration to the SDSU Hall of Fame.

Adam Vinatieri held most of the kicking records when he graduated from SDSU (though many were broken later by Parker Douglass) and one cannot discount what Vinatieri's pro career has done for SDSU on the national scene. If we had a ring of honor, it would be nice to have a few players up their that non SDSU fans would recognize.

I would venture to guess that Adam V has done enough for the football program to warrant his inclusion in any football ring of honor. I don't see how you can say someone who is worthy of the Pro Hall of Fame wouldn't be good enough for the the Jacks.

Sounds good. If being a three time all conference player who donates back to the program is enough to qualify, then that is going to be one long list of players. If you want to add his professional accomplishments then he's a no brainer. That's why in my orignal post I asked the questions.

My only point was @ SDSU he was never more than a All Conference player. There are many athletes that have gone through SDSU that can make that claim. If the Ring of Fame is for Collegiate + Professional career he's a no brainer, but if the honor is to be given for collegiate play only it's not as easy as it might seem.
