We are doing a lot better job containing quick guys like Grey. If you listen to Stig and watch the D-line and LB's closely you'll see just how disciplined they are about keeping outside contain. Even on stunts where Batten or Steffen swing inside the tackles are keeping outside contained. Keep fast/quick guys like Grey in the middle of the field and somebody will trip them up/stop them. We didn't do a very good job of this against Poly and it hurt they took advantage. Since then Stig has make it a point to contain.

suits Decker right for not signing with the Twins.....

if anyone hasn't watched a Minnesota game, when ever they need a play they throw the ball in the direction of Decker and he comes down with it..... tough brake....

I wonder if this might be what gets him to chose baseball over football. He definitely would get more money upfront from the NFL, but his chances of a long baseball career seem more likely to me. Tough break for them. I don't think Brewster is going to get another year. Each year the team gets worse as the year moves on. They have no offensive lineman that can compete on a regular basis in the Big Ten, and the incoming recruits, are again, what is supposed to turn the team around.

Anyone remember our win over them in baseball...Decker dropped a can of corn in the 9th. Instead, we ended up winning with a walk-off squeeze. Probably the best ending to a game I've seen in person. I don't miss an opportunity to bring this up.

There are roughly 500 tickets left for the gopher game that I found on Stub hub if anyone wants some tickets here is the website.

Or go to stubhub.com and type it in the little box at the top.

Well Weber threw for over 400 yards in his first game without Decker. Not too shabby. Gopher fans probably feel a little better about their offense again after the pastings by PSU and OSU. Defense, maybe not so much.

Here's hoping UofM gets a win against Ill next week to get bowl eligible. If not, they will have something more than pride to play for against State.

                  Re: Gopher Board

That lucky bounce off the falling player into the hands of the running back was the only way the gophers won last night. Michigan State would have won by one. But then the Spartans are inconsistent and not a great team either.

Wow. Didn't expect them to get a W there. A win next week does get them Bowl eligible and possibly looking ahead to Iowa.

I believe the Gophers were already up 35-34 when that play happened, and they won 42-34.

Hello SDSU fans, Gopher fan here stopping by to get your thoughts on the game in 2 weeks. It looks like you're having a a great year this year and I'm rooting for you to win your division. Would a win or loss have any impact on your playoff system or ranking or anything like that? What are SDSU's strenghts and weaknesses? I read some of your comments, the only one that surprised me was rabbits64 saying that our fans are the worst in D1A football. That's as crazy as saying SDSU fans are the worst in D1AA football. I look forward to a good game and hope anyone who visits Minneapolis has a good time.

If the Jacks win the final two MVC games vs Southern Ill and Western Ill a win or loss to the Gophers will not impact our playoffs. The two more conference wins would likely get the Jacks seeded and host for the first round. HUGE, HUGE game this Saturday vs SIU.

The Jacks are having a good year so I also look for a good game vs the Gophers. Strenghts, clearly our defense. We also have a good balance of run / pass.

Weekness........Now why would a good Jacks fan tell you that?

Don't know who or why the post of good fans / bad fans. Each team has them both. I do think the fans from bigger schools like the Gophers have a tendancy to look down on teams from smaller schools. You just remind them that the Jacks already have wins over your WBB and baseball team. So a football win albeit a long shot is not impossible.

Unfortuately, you may not get a lot of chatter here yet. We in Jackrabbit Nation have bought into the team's saying of we are to go 1-0 every week. This is not just a saying, it's truth. We are not looking ahead, especially when we are playing for the conference title and automatic berth in the playoffs this year and likely a home game in the playoffs this week against Southern Illinois.

Strength is obviously defense. The defense is giving up less than 12 ppg this year with the most being 21 points in a loss at a ranked Cal Poly game in which they scored two defensive TD's.

The Jacks like to try to win the battle at both lines of scrimmage and do a pretty stellar job of doing it. A running back from SW Minnesota, Kyle Minett, is the second all time leading rusher in Minnesota state h.s. history and is always getting positive yardage.

Weakness would be big play ability on offense, and lately in the 1st half putting TD's on the board when in scoring range. A big play shows up here and there typically with Minett busting a run after the line has beat down the defense for most of the game and then with a receiver sneaking behind the coverage now and then.

I thought the Gophers offense was really going into a funk after PSU and OSU and then the loss of Decker. Not so much against MSU. I've watched the Gophers play on t.v. a few times this year and they seem to give up plenty of points. Lots of big plays.

As discussed in some previous posts. We are cheering for the Gophers this weekend to get themselves bowl eligible and then hopefully they will look on to Iowa. If not the Gophers must beat SDSU.

The Jacks had a bad case of nerves in the only other FBS game they've played against Iowa State last year with the QB (who is graduated) throwing 5 picks and the defense giving up a long drive to start the game for a TD that shut the Jacks crowd down. I think this year the nerves will be less. The game last year was the first game of the year and this is obviously well into the year and the Jacks have now put some huge games under their belt through the year. The poise should be more favorable for the Jacks.

This is unfortunately the next game of the Jacks that I will see in person and I'll say it now. I don't expect the Jacks to win, even if they beat down Southern Illinois Saturday. It will take a real huge effort on the defensive side of the ball and Weber is going to have to turn the ball over for the Jacks to win. It is possible, but IMO, not likely. I hope I eat my words and come back on this board after getting back from Minneapolis with my tail between my legs.

At this point, I would expect to see 6000-7500 Jacks fans at the game. Not going to see a crowd like NDSU brough to the Dome in 2007.

That's not particularly a bad thing. When the Bison traveled in 2007, the trip to the Dome was THE game that year for Bison fans. There are at least two games on the SDSU schedule this year that have become more important than the Gophers game. If a fan has to keep driving to Brookings for "must see" games, priority for the Gophers game drops pretty quickly.

Part of that has to do with our tough schedule this year. SDSU was supposed to be the easiest game, with Syracuse, Air Force and #6 Cal as the other opponents coming from outside the Big Ten. To be sitting at 5-4 with a chance to go 8-4 is looking pretty good right now.
