same here. We are thinking of tailgating in the State Fairgrounds with our bus load, but not sure how to get a ticket - Is it first come/first serve? Is there a cost with gameday tailgating? Maybe Gopherhole can help us out with the tailgating spots.

I would not pay a premium for these tickets or even close to face value. I was walking by TCF stadium last week ten minutes before the Cal./Minnesota kickoff and there were dozens of scalpers trying to get rid of good tickets for $5 or less to a team currently ranked 6th in the country. By the time SDSU plays I would suspect Minnesota will be fluttering around .500 and it will be alot colder. There will lots of tickets available if you can deal with the uncomfortableness of not having a ticket until gameday.

Heard the same on the Cal tickets. I'm one that's going to hold out as long as possible and not pay face value.

If this proves to be true I may just have to find myself in Minneapolis on the weekend of this big game. I didn't think tickets would be that easily available.

Pra'lly should have waited. But I hate getting in the stadium late. And at least this way I will get to sit with SDSU fans and be able to walk around the new joint before the game starts. Dang, though. Dang.

Anybody else making a weekend of it? There are 11 of us going to the SDSU game. Seven are going to see the Vikes and Lions the next day. A few of us are also going to see the Gophers play hockey Saturday night. Only standing room tickets left for that right now. Should be a fun, sports-packed weekend.

I'm in Minneapolis right now...going to watch the Jackrabbits run in the Roy Griak Invite X-Country meet tomorrow morning and get some family time with two sons in the Cities.

Drove by the U of MN new football field tonight. For some reason, it was lit up and the Dakotronics Boards were showing some interview. The place is fabulous. It may be the nicest college football stadium in the country. I'm happy for the U of MN. The Gophers needed an on-campus facility like this one.

I'll be making a weekend of it when the Jackrabbits play the Gophers!

^You have never been to Kinnick have you?? (I am biased).

I gladly paid face value to sit in the Rabbit's den of the Gopher hole. I will also be looking forward to seeing this new stadium and how nice it actually is.

                    Will they have TSA searching?

I'll pass on this. Rather I'll be at the home/season opening women's BB game against Gonzaga that night. You should come to the game instead!

Here are my two cents on getting tickets based on what I've observed in the first 4 home games at The Bank.

                              • Not trying to flame or disrespect your team, but this will be the least sought-after ticket of the year.
                              • Like any other event/venue, ticket brokers (stubhub, etc) bought up some of the available tickets and have them available online and whatever they don't sell beforehand, they'll be scalping out in front of the stadium.
                              • if the weather is cold/rainy, there will obviously be more tickets available than if the weather is nice.
                              • likewise, if the Gophers can win 2+ out of the next 4 games (Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan St & Illinois), then people would be less likely to sell their tickets.
                              • if you see a game on tv and see empty seats in the upper corners of the student section, don't assume that the attendance is poor - building code requires bench seats to be 18" wide or wider. What we've found out, though, is that students have narrower butts than that and are squeezing in down in lower rows rather than sitting up high
                              • I think there should be seats from scalpers available for $20-$40 per seat before the game and even the "bad" seats are good in this stadium
                              • You should also check craigslist - which is heavily used in the twin cities
                              • Also, the biggest Minnesota fan forum has a tickets page at: http://boards.gopherhole.com/boards/...isplay.php?f=9
                              • If you buy tickets in the student section, keep in mind that they do random checks to make sure that the person entering has a valid U of M student ID
                              • Have fun in Minneapolis
                              • Go Gophers!

I work with a non-student who bought a student ticket to an earlier game and was denied admittance to the stadium. Beer money for said student, out $20 for co-worker. Best bet would be to avoid U of M student tickets.
