Band was great, but still don't understand why they are in prime seats and not in the South EndZone.

This. A tremendous waste of great seating.

Patience everybody. Things are in the works, but there are other things to be worked out. Be assured the department would like to see the move...if not this year (and probably not), I look for it to happen for next year.

I'm not quite understanding why having students sitting in the grandstands is a "waste of good seating." Whether we older people like it or not, athletic teams belong to the students first. I understand the desire to maximize the ability to generate revenue but thinking of fee paying students as second class citizens (or fans) is flat wrong.

And let's be honest. For many, many years SDSU sported some pretty average football teams. But that band has been exceptional from the start. It's given SDSU a lot of visibility in the state and region. Every school in the old NCC and our new conference would kill for a band like that to augment their football gameday experience.

I believe he is referring to putting the band in the endzone, not the students. I sat in the west stadium near the north 40-yard line and honestly couldn't hear a single thing the band played. Nothing. Would be nice to be able to hear an awesome band like ours. I think putting them in the endzone would add a lot.

              BINGO!!!

I loved what I saw from the band this week.

The Pride being in the end zone would a win-win for the band and the AD, IMHO.

I think Cowbell's point may be that the band members are students as well?

Being Pride alums, my brother and I were impressed with the changes/improvement. They seem to be making the DI move and earning their silver horns.

The only thing I would add to the discussion is that I noticed there were Pride members in the stands while they were playing the national anthem. If they were there during the pregame, that means that they are holding some back from field performing, possibly underclassmen. This is done elsewhere and may make for a more solid show.

Stand play was the best since at least 96'

They were all on the field for the pregame performance then half the band went to the stands and the other half stayed on the field and formed a tunnel for the football team to run through then they played the national anthem.

I am glad they are playing more throughout the game, that is something I wish we did more of back when I was in it, but a lot of the antics bring back memories, granted it was only six years ago.

I'm glad that I got my season tickets in section E, I'm right next to the horns, just far enough away from the drums. Man, are me and the wife are bringing down the average age of the ticket holders in that area, most of them have kids in the band.

Re: Band in the stands was great

I know of some freshman members of the Pride and I assume they just don't know all the routines etc.

Hey, SDSU Tuba, I'm one of the old guys (B.S. '76) in Section E (row 11), counterbalancing your attempt to lower the average age. It's plenty loud but my wife and I enjoy the noise and hoopla.

If somebody told me their kid was in the band, I'd have to say, oh yeah? well, my kid's in Cubbies (post game, of course).

Did the band do their normal pre-game entrance under the stands with the tubas and horns playing that song that I don't know the name of?

I don't remember hearing it Saturday, but it is one of my favorite parts of gameday.

Sorry, not very descriptive, but I'm sure someone will know what I'm talking about...

No, they did decide to cut that as there were more complaints than compliments about this. They also said they could get the band in place faster if they did not do this.

Being a Pride Alum ('95-'00) and now a season ticket holder (Sec G) it is always bittersweet to see The Pride perform. I was impressed with the first performance of the year and know that it will only get better.

I still remember some of the old cadence chants that may have gotten us into a little trouble for my years ("OJ's Guilty...the Juice is Loose" pops into my head). That being said what we did back then wouldn't really be good behavior for a D1 school. But it was entertaining.

A D1 band coupled with emerging D1 athletic powerhouse programs? We sure are a lucky bunch of bunnies, arent we?

Man, thats disappointing. I can't believe that people would complain about that, that song meant gameday to me.
