It seems we are hitting Nebraska harder then we have in the past, I think some of that may have to do with rumors that the Nebraska walk-on program is going to be cut back... (beliefs are that only are 10 will be offered preferred walkons this year)..... We are hitting Arizona really hard this year, which I like....
I wouldn't doubt that we are still hitting up the Kansas City metro area, but for some reason we never hear about those recruits until signing day.
I would guess we're more involved in Nebraska because Iowa is down this year and because new DL coach, Clint Brown, is a Nebraska Alum and coached in the state.

This is true, as the few Ohio guys SDSU has had on the roster were often alums offspring or relatives to alums. Your right Ohio has a lot of talent, and its a matter of establishing a network of coaches, former players and alums.

Bowers sounds real good. AN offer from ECU? Fort Scott is a real solid juco program.

Very good recruiting update from Terry this morning in his blog:

While South Dakota State got off to a slow start in terms of recruiting verbals, even by its standards, things are going to pick up. In fact, they already have.

Two junior college transfers enrolled this week - QB Jordan Thomas and DE Zach Bowers - and will participate in spring ball. Bowers began his career at Butler Community College, but moved on to national power Fort Scott after one semester because he didn't want to move to fullback. He wound up leading Fort Scott in sacks and is known for his tremendous motor and work ethic? And, yes, he's been told that those were the qualities of outgoing star DE Danny Batten.

ESPN has Josh Kristoff rated as a 2 star Safety with a 71 rating.

    Attached is the write-up:

Kristoff is a gutty and savvy football player that loves contact. He has good size and is quicker than fast. Closes quickly on both the run and the pass. Likes to really deliver a blow to receivers in the short zones. Sometimes lets receivers get deep in his zone and has to work to recover but does a good job at times of making the adjustments. A physical player that really brings the wood but must be careful to keep the head up and not miss. Aggressiveness and explosiveness often ends up creating turnovers. Uses hands well to shed would-be blockers. Loves to play the game and is an inspiration to his teammates by the way he hits. A little stiff in the knees but is a great effort defensive back that also is a very solid special teams player. Flies down the field on kickoff coverage and makes blockers miss in the openfield. A very smart and instinctive football player that takes good angles to the football and uses the sideline to his advantage. Kriftoff is a very sound and reliable player that is probably best suited to be a strong safety at the next level where his aggressiveness and overall athletic ability can best be utilized. Not fluid enough to be a free safety in the three deep but could be a solid halve s player in two deep coverage.

Tregg Waters, CB from the same high school as R.J. McGill.... it doesn't have him listed but if you click on the article it says he has had interest from SD-State and ND-state
