In my opinion, that was because we actually had some teams to schedule every year.
The Great West had 4 quality teams. After SDSU and NDSU left, they only had 2.
Could the Cal schools play in the Missouri Valley Conference? Probably!
I think the reason why some people think The Great West is a bad league now is because SDSU/NDSU moved to a league that is better. Can you compare the 2 conferences? One has more quality teams and fills out the schedule better.
