That's what I've heard. Several sources, all pretty reliable. We'll know for sure very soon, I think.

Must be some truth to the rumor if everyone seems to be hearing the same thing. I haven't heard anything to prove or contradict it, just surprises me that a kid would consider transferring late into a QB situation as congested as ours, but I won't complain... the more competition at the position the better chance we have of having a quality QB for our playoff push this year.

If Nate Tice is not determined to play QB, he would have opportunities at other positions. I am impressed that Corey Jeske is adapting to being a safety and we need these athletes for skilled positions besides QB. So if Tice comes, I am sure no one will run him off. My gut instincts tell me that we may see some of the QB's converted to other positions after spring ball.
Recruiting for speed and athleticism is been the hard part for SDSU even if it means converting a QB candidate to another position.

I heard the same thing but did not want to start any rumor. I have a good source also.

Agreed, but the coaches have to take into account that not all the QBs would have the ability to convert to a different position. Tice, Whittier, and Lotzer would probably all have the athleticism to convert to different positions if it doesn't appear they will be good enough to take over as the starting QB at some point in their careers, but I don't know if we could say the same about O'Brien, Crawford, or Mondel. Some could also have the "Eric Crouch" mentality of quarterback or bust as well... though in that situation they would probably either accept a backup role or transfer out if they couldn't earn the starting QB position.

Add Lotzer and maybe Tice to the mix? Wow. There's no such thing as having too many great athletes on a team. The coaching staff has been doing a heck of recruiting job, apparently. The success and promise of the team has got to be big attraction.

That would put three QB's on the roster that spent time at very good FBS programs (Michigan, Air Force, UCF). Tice (6'4 210) is at U.Central Florida and played in HS for Kim Nelson (former WHS, current Roosy Head Coach).

Just curious: am I correct to assume Nate Tice is the son of former Vikings and current Jacksonville asistant coach Mike Tice? Mike's bio on the Jags' site says he has a son Nathan, and Mike has connections to Central Florida coach George O'Leary.

Seemed too obvious not to be the case, but I didn't want to assume incorrectly either. Thanks!

Can you imagine seeing Mike Tice at SDSU games? I can't lie...I would snicker.

As of Lotzier...I'm not so sure that's a done deal yet. Not that TV leads us wrong or anything, but...I've heard it's not yet a done deal. I hope it shakes down, though.

If Mike Tice does show up at games, I hope by now he's learned a more attractive way to chew gum.

Wonder how many games he can make when he is employed by the Jacksonville Jaguars, as it's not exactly close to Brookings, SD
