Re: 2009 Recruiting Class
In the "old days", SDSU lost out to NDSU on a majority of kids. Not anymore. The success of the program, the respect for the coaching staff and the increase in fan support have all made SDSU a real viable option for talented high school students. Also, facility enhancement (Wellness Center, Dykhouse Center, upgrades to Frost Arena, etc.) has made a significant difference in how recruits see us.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Class
Here is a little more about Lee Mondol and his decision to come to SDSU. Posted on Scouts.com yesterday. I didn't see this posted anywhere, but more of the same about our rising program and the coaching staff being the top draw. That's a great reputation to have.

Pat Brown, 6-1, 180, CB/R, Bettendorf, Iowa. Elite all-state pick by the Des Moines Register and second-team all-state selection by the Iowa Newspaper Association. Has qualified for the state track meet in four sprinting events.
Here is what was included there:
Pat Brown, a cornerback and return specialist from Bettendorf, Iowa, said Thursday that he has made a verbal commitment to play football at South Dakota State.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder was a member of the Des Moines Register Elite All-State Team and was named second-team all-state by the Iowa Newspaper Association as a wide receiver in his senior year. As a junior, he helped Bettendorf to an undefeated season and a state title in Iowa’s largest class.
Brown is also a standout sprinter, qualifying for the state meet in four events.

That's impressive.
It says something about the institution and about the coaching staff. Probably everybody feels good about their recruiting classes, but it makes me proud as a Jackrabbit fan to see the caliber of student athlete that the football coaches are bringing to campus.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Class
Iowa Preps had a story on this young man yesterday and it said he committed to NW Missouri State. Maybe this young man changed his mind because of a better offer. We will find out in a few days.

Re: 2009 Recruiting Class
Great class. It appears the Jacks are turning their biggest question mark, QB, into a position of depth and strength. There could be three or four potential starters on the team next season. Hopefully the O-line and D-backfield have been shored up too.
