Doc sounds like a fun person. Humble too. I hope that I cross paths with him on Saturday.

Actually Nidaros, McNeese is in Lake Charles, Louisiana... Say doc, how far are you from Houma? Home of the world infamous Three Drunk Guy and a Hurricane during Gustav?

I think it is going to be a fun game no matter who wins. I wish we had gotten the Cal Poly game in because that looked to be a fun game and a probable sell-out in "The Hole".

Your own message sarcastically implied that we think you're overrated and that we own the SLC, which suggests you think we're overconfident. Then you made a snarky reference to the SFA game, which can only be taken to mean you think we're not very good.

Now you're saying you were just being funny? Wow. I guess putting a smiley on your post negates everything you say in it.

Can we talk about the game? I'll try again. McNeese is a great team, with incredibly fast and skilled players. The question, I suppose, is whether our physical strength at the line of scrimmage gives us any advantage or if their speed negates that. I'd be interested in what former players think about that matchup between outstanding speed and physicality. I watched the SFA game and they had some speedy guys on defense who ran around our zone blocking and tackled our back from behind again and again. We had bodies on the guys in front of us, but somebody would circle around our line and make the tackle. Anybody have anything to say about the game?
          Holy nutmeg!

I'l be around. I hope to catch a little of the Hobo Day parade and then make a pass through the tailgate area. I'll definitely be on the sideline taking a few pictures.

              Re: McNeese State

I played against McNeese a couple years ago when we beat them on the road (last minute FG by Parker), and to be completely honest, I was impressed with that team. The scary thing is that they are probably a better team right now, but I still think we will take care of business - regardless of their ranking or who they've played close... On Hobo Day, the Jacks seem to play with a higher level of desire and emotion. I think that will be hard for the road team to match. Therefore, the Jacks will win a close, hard fought battle!

              Side Note:

My parents, who traveled down to Lake Charles to watch the game, said that the McNeese fans were the best, friendliest people they have ever tailgated with (on the road) during my college career! From listening to their stories, I assume they have great fans and I hope they bring a big group up to Brookings!

Lets just hope that we don't punt it to their returner Whitehead again...or whatever his name is. Anyone else remember how bad he made us look. I think he ran one back and had another one called back. I think this week would be a good week to punt in out of bounds.

What was your number? I took a few pictures of some Jackrabbit players during warmups for a parent or two that tailgated with us in our area.

I still have the pictures of the 2006 game online if any of you guys want to revisit it. Check here:

Actually, Lake Charles is on the other side of the state from Houma and New Orleans. We are about 30 miles from the Texas border and 40-50 miles (depending on how much got washed away) from the Gulf of Mexico.

The storm surge from Ike pretty much wiped out Cameron Parish (the parish south of us) again. Not quite as bad as Rita did but pretty bad.

A 777 point drop in the market will do that.

We have quite a few proud Jackrabbit fans with a fair amount of knowledge about the SLC and its history with current MVFC and former Great West FC teams. I think most of us acknowledge that the game this weekend is just that, this weekend. I am very concerned about the performance at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball the last 2 1/2 games and if we don't perform better against McNeese I suspect the outcome will not be in our favor. That said, we are at home (18-4 since transition) and its Hobo Day. We should have 15,000 plus Jackrabbit fans packed into CAS. Either way, I can't think of any better way to spend a Saturday afternoon in and around Brookings.

Living in South Fla in 2006, I enjoyed tailgating with the McNeese crew, and cheering on the Cowboys vs FBS USF in Tampa. There were about 100 tailgaters over from Lake Charles, and many of them are the posters you see here or at AnyGivenSaturday. I second that they are passionate, friendly people, GREAT TAILGATERS!!!! If you see any McNeese fans, say hi, and invite them on in to share before the game, or better yet, swap stories post game. Like SDSU fans, their team will give it their best during the game, but they'll give/take the results as they are. Hope that we, as SDSU fans, can make McNeese fans feel that SDSU is one of the best tailgating experiences they've enjoyed outside of Lake Charles.

Yes, Slostang & I were crying about that one. That was the 2nd best game (maybe even the biggest) in the FCS that weekend, and it was wiped out. Not getting it played has REALLY backed Cal Poly into a corner to qualify for the play-offs.

Don't let my current SO in, about the shown GF (by the way that was a 2nd date). Fortunately, she was VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT HER FOOTBALL (Dolphins season tix holder).

                              Great time with you guys!
