Yes they charge $15 per car just like ISU does. If you cross the river right there on that road there is also another smaller lot immediately to your left. It is $15 as well.

Ask for the haunted forest lot and people will know. The map makes it look farther than it really is. It is very close. Just like walking across the street if you were at the student lots

If you want to mingle with some great fans the best place to find them is near the RV's and Buses directly outside the east entrance. Many opposing fans hanging out with cyclone fans. But you will find great fans almost everywhere!
I need a consensus prior to sending a final e-mail alert for the tailgate. Will we enjoy ourselves more in the "haunted forest lot", the G2 and G3 student lot, or near G6 by the river?

We can mingle from any location but I'd like to have a central spot for those interested in hanging out with Jackrabbit fans not at the alumni tent. I'm guessing we'd get along with the students okay but an older more sophisticated crowd would be more welcome. I'm one of the younger fans in our group and I graduated from SDSU in 1995 if that helps.

Some chatter from the cyclone fanatic board about tailgating.

      http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...sdsu-game.html

Some talk about 5000 Jacks fans in attendance. I'm not sure we'll get that many there but I can't think of any great excuse for missing this game. BTW I'm not looking for any excuses. My but will be there. If you are missing this game I feel a little sorry for you.

In all honesty, I've only tailgated in the "haunted forest" lot a couple of times. It was nowhere near as fun as the student lots. But, this might be a biased opinion since I am a student myself. The vast majority is students, but the farther back you go (farther west in G3) the more mix it gets with other people and students. You would have a great time in there if you like to party. Half of the students in there tailgating pass out before kickoff anyways. We are heading down from Brookings Wednesday night so we can start tailgating as early as possible, what time does tailgating start? We are just going to get tickets on the hill, we weren't sure how many of us would end up going but as far as I know there will be 7 or 8 of us, all students. I'm sure we will stick around for some tailgating after the game before heading to the bars. Look for the most obnoxious SDSU fans and I'm sure that will probably be us.

According to the policy, the tailgating lots open up 6 hours prior to kickoff. However, the lots usually open up before then, especially if there is a lot of traffic waiting to get in. The students lots will probably open up fairly early. (hopefully)

I would encourage Jacks fans to also take the opportunity during tailgating to wander around and especially visit the coeds...uh...student section...particularly if it is a nice warm evening :-)

Let's try and wear as much BLUE as possible. Large "SD" flags are also encouraged!

Anyone have a recommendation on the best portable, telescoping flag pole and where to get it? Thanks.

The YJC purchased a "wonderpole". We fly 2 flags, one with our club name on it and various different Jackrabbit flags. Here is a link.

BTW I've got 2 tickets on the 50 yard line that I would be willing to unload pretty cheap if anyone needs 2 tickets. We are going to sit with the Jackrabbit fans. I don't have them in hand right now but will pick them up later today. I'll have more specific seat placements then. I'm told they are prime seats. I got them from an Iowa State booster. PM if interested.

                          Re: Iowa State Game Plans

Well, this is an odd/unusual post, but here goes: Due to a computer glitch (I guess) I've come to learn that I have no motel room as once believed. I'm now leaning toward camping Thursday night just east of Ames. I don't object to getting a room, but they are sparse/expensive. Is anybody who has accommodations game for a roommate? I would pay my share, of course, before moving on the next morning. I'm not sure what happened with my reservation, but it's gone. If you're interested in saving a little money, send me a note with the info. I promise not to ring my cowbell the entire night (unless we win). Sorry to bother you all.
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

Forecast (7 days out of course) calls for 81 (low of 60) with a 30% chance of isolated T-storms. Sounds almost perfect. Likely to change but if it doesn't I'll take it.

Dublin Bay, Hickory Park, and Legends Sports Bar are some of my favorite places to eat while in Ames.

Seriously, thinking about putting a mattress in a van and having 4 of us camp in it after the game and tailgating either in Ames or Des Moines. Final preparations are shaping up as we speak.
