        Anyways....welcome to the board chriscyzer!!

The Jacks are going to show way too much inexpierence on the O-line to be effective. This I'm afraid will spell disaster and little if any offensive production. I'm not all that confident defensively either. Lot's of new faces playing their first big time game and given the Jack's propensity to begin seasons 0-3..well it could be a long evening.

I guess it will come down to just how poor are the Clone's? If the Jack's somehow pull this one out I would imagine Iowa State is headed for one of their all-time disaster seasons.

Pessimism at its best. I thought I had the market share of that. I agree that the lack of experience on the O-line is a concern, a great big concern. If the clones are in our backfield all day its going to be tough to move the ball and therefore darn tough to score. I do like our skill positions and we might pull off some big plays.

As for our defense, I don't think we are going to have many years where we will have more potentional on the D-line. We are solid up front. There are some questions at the linebacker spot and thats okay. I think we'll have a good defensive backfield.

Iowa State is not going to be spectacular or explosive on offense. They'll be talented but so were many of the teams we played last year. We can hang with them.....I think.

Personally I feel very good about our defense, the D-Line is awesome, the linebackers will be fine, and I feel the same way about our D-Backs. I understand we are lacking some inexperience in the D-backs, but I feel the D-backs have never been this athletic ever in SDSU's history. I think the defense is gonna be stellar, from game one. Thats why I feel it will be a low scoring game. Like I said in an earlier post

                  Re: Predict Iowa State-SDSU score

Even an average BCS team like Iowa State game will have an advantage over us in speed and numbers. Big plays and wearing down of both lines are my biggest concerns going in. Any time an underdog tries to get an upset they have to limit big plays on D, have a couple big plays on O/Special Teams, and win the turnover battle. If we do that, we should have a shot in the fourth quarter of coming away with an upset win. Despite how well we played the last half of the last two seasons, we're still very much underdogs in this game.

One of the most disappointing things about last year's 0-3 start was the sense I got from watching that the team was still trying to iron out the kinks. The offense was always very herky jerky and sloppy with alot of missed receivers, etc. I have to believe that, despite a revamped o-line, that having a veteran QB will help solve that problem. Our last two season starts had as much to do with new QB's getting their feet wet than anything else. That's not the case this time.

The big question is the kicking game. Parker Douglas was an invaluable weapon and would be even more of one in this game. Coming into camp, we didn't even have an official starter at kicker. That is a huge question mark.

MJA analysis strikes me as being very realistic. I would think we would have to find the Cyclones flat, as we did back in 1993 in Montana. We could get them down and down a ways but we have to find a way to hang on the end, but I thought NDSU would not have a shot at Minnesota, last year and who did we beat in the last game for the Dakota Marker. Did that make us better than Minnesota? I dont think so. The NDSU team in week 11 was a team ripe for an upset. SDSU had the emotional control and momentum that day, and could it carry over to the Iowa State game? I have my doubts. ISU 27 SDSU 7

To win it's going to have to be low scoring....and as previously stated...speed will be a big concern....The Tampa 2 or cover 2 will be 1 way to slow their passing game down...the key being getting good jambs on the wr's coming off the line, not allowing them to stretch the field......but if they have a good running game, we'll be stretched thin on the inside.....

                            Re: Predict Iowa State-SDSU score

My prediction for an SDSU win is above but it is mainly with my heart and I am absolutely sticking with that.

Most people are predicting a 7-14 point SDSU loss based on many things. One thing we need to remember heading in is that they are replacing a number of people as well including a four-year starter at quarteback. Even with a four-year starter they went 3-9 last year and based on what I have read at their fan site, they aren't very optimistic that there has been a major infusion of talent. The big thing is that it will be the second year for their coaching staff and system.

If the game is won in the trenches we MAY be in trouble. If the skill players decide it I think we have more than a decent shot at the upset. There certainly has to be some residual momentum on our side after the way our season ended compared to ISU.

This should be a very good game!

And things may have started to come together a bit late last season. They beat K-State and Colorado in November.
