Re: Missouri Valley FB Preseason Press Conference

I can't remember the last time there's been this much optimism about our football team! But until we see how the guys look in practice, I'm tempering my enthusiasm just a bit. As others have stated, we have some holes to fill and we're playing one of the toughest schedules in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. My hope right now is that we just get off to a good start -- 3-1 or even 2-2 -- so that we're not having to play catch up in the standings.

Now ... is it August 28th yet?

Jacks get just one player on the all pre-season team and 4 on honorable mention while NDSU gets 5 on first team and 4 honorable mention. I think one guy that is not on either list that will garner some respect by the end of the year if he stays healthy is Jaron Harris.

        Very true.

What the heck...I like pre-season buzz but if we have a choice, I prefer having the buzz at the end of the season when it's based on facts. Our guys just have to prove they belong. I'm sticking with my prediction of the first football win in Fargo since 1963, breaking the home-team's hold on the Dakota Marker.

I'm with you fellers, I just can't wait to see how we make it through this first season in the Valley. I have been pleasantly suprised at the success this team has had over the past couple of years. As much as I am reserving judgement to some extent to see how this year's team comes together, I am excited because this tough conference isn't that much of a leap for us because the Great West last year was tough and we sampled the competition with Western Illinois, Youngstown State and Northern Iowa last year.

I know we lost all three of those games but had a chance to win each of them.

P.S. Don't forget to click "recommend" whenever there is a story on the AL's website in regards to SDSU. Think of it as "rep points" for TV and SDSU. He deserves every one IMO!!

Here is an Argus/Terry article that I don't believe that has been posted yet. It previews the upcoming football season and is a recap of the Missouri Valley pre-season media day.

Remember to click the "recommended" link on any SDSU article. Who knows who is tracking those.

ST. LOUIS - The telltale placement of two newcomers in the preseason poll - one high and one low - demonstrates the potential strength of the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Without having played a game in the nine-team league, North Dakota State was picked to win the title (and the automatic playoff bid that goes with it) in a vote of coaches, media and sports information directors.

Meanwhile, fellow Valley rookie South Dakota State was tabbed to finish sixth - and garnered only one spot on the preseason all-league team - despite sitting at No. 18 in the Football Championship Subdivision national rankings.
