      Thanks,
Well, to be honest with ya, I haven't heard much about them. I know I should since I am living in the same hometown as them. But, Ames High School is overshadowed by ISU. I also stopped paying much attention to high school sports ever since i graduated from high school in '04. (at least the people that aren't ISU recruits)

Sorry, I wasn't of any help.

But, from what I have read on your website is that Olinger was first team all-conference and Fitzsimmons got all-conference honors also.
I played in the same conference as those guys when i was in high school and it is one of the most competitive, if not the best conference, in Iowa. It's the "Iowa Conference" which is 4A (the largest schools in Iowa) and has 5 football teams which are annually good and are consistant at making the play-offs.
So, to sum it up in one sentence. If they got all-conference honors, they are probably among some of the best in the state.

Sorry, I couldn't give you more info!

I'm really looking forward to this game. As of right now, my plans are to drive up thursday for tailgate/game, and drive to owatonna that night, crash and the rest of the trip back to brookings on friday.

A lot of the students, including myself, are also looking forward to this game! Mainly because it's on thursday night, which gives all of the students good excuses to skip classes and tailgate the whole day, and then tailgate more after the game and skip class on friday.
It should be a good game and good atmosphere!

I heard a promotion on WNAX today that the South Dakota Corn Growers Association is putting together a bus trip to the game.

You have a golden opportunity to "bring 30 grand and drop the hammer". Enjoying, and then abusing, the hospitality of our friends in the Big X and Big XII should become a time-honored tradition.

Declare a yellow-out and you might enjoy some more support from Fargo!

Well, I don't think I can make that happen, since the only time our crowd does that is when we play Nebraska.

But, your support would be greatly appreciated at any time!

30,000 is the current standard. SOMEBODY will have to top it sooner or later. If the game was within a couple hours' drive and didn't interfere with NDSU's schedule, I would take a serious look at Iowa State ticket prices and hotel availability. I s'pose a plan of reciprocity might be in order here... Jacks out west can come to Laramie, and I'm sure that there won't be a shortage of Bison fans around the Ames area who didn't get their Austin Peay tickets before the season-opening sellout.

                      Thanks for the article.

If you are interested in reading the story behind Jack Trice, first black player to play at Iowa St. and he only played in two games before he died from injuries sustained playing football for Iowa St. you can read the ESPN article here.

We're definitely really excited for the upgrades to finish! By the start of next season, they will have finished the west side concourse and expanding the suites. Bowling in the south endzone and finishing the east side concourse is still in the process. Hopefully, it is finished sooner, rather than later.

Thanks for posting that link. It's a really good story! A lot of people have never heard of JT, but after reading that, it seems like it should be a story that is more popular.
In fact, a lot of Iowa Hawkeyes don't even know who JT really is... Of course, they do lack some brain cells.

I would venture to say the average Cyclone fan doesn't know who Jack Trice is either. ISU does a poor job talking about him. Nile Kinnick is mentioned in most of the broadcasts of the football games. Don't think in all my years of listening to ISU football that they talk about who Jack Trice was.

I was happy to read that article and inform myself.

                              Re: Iowa State fan here...

I am looking forward to the game, although I wish it was being played on Saturday.
I'm an SDSU grad living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I have two sons at ISU now and one who graduated from there in 2002. I'll be wearing my Jackrabbit Journalist sweatshirt and sitting on the grass amongst the Cyclone fans with my cheap hillside season tickets. It's a good college football atmosphere in Ames. The Jacks should do well against Iowa State. The Clones are still trying to find their way under a second-year coach and lost to UNI last year and should have lost to the Panthers the year before.
I saw the SDSU game at the UNI-Dome two years ago. The Jacks led at half and should have won if it hadn't been for a wounded-duck-pass interception when Ryan Berry went in to replace Kardoes at QB for a few plays when he got hurt. I couldn't understand why they had him throw a long pass when they were picking apart the Panthers with short passes and runs. They were driving for another score and the interception was run back for about 40 yards. It was also questionable whether UNI recovered a later Jackrabbit fumble before the ball went out of bounds. Plan to see this year's game at the Dome.
Listened to the NDSU game on the radio on the way home from an Iowa State game last fall. Pretty exciting.
My first post on the forum.

I guess that may be true. I would say a lot/most of the bandwagon fans and some of the average fans don't know who he is. They might know of him, but don't know the story behind the name. Which is sad IMO.
