Re: Bailey hired as quarterbacks coach

Turnover is prevelant on most coaching staffs. That's just the nature of the business. It is rare to see long-term coaches outside of the head coach. Coaching seems like a pretty ruthless business. Everyone wants to be the head coach and the money can be pretty tight until you move up to a big school or become the head coach.

What you want is a reputation as a place where a coach can come and move up to the next level. That attracts a better talent pool of coaches.

I think SDSU has done very well in this regard and I think Stig deserves a lot of the credit for being a decent guy.

Re: Bailey hired as quarterbacks coach

I was out digging around as I have nothing better to do tonight. I found Don's resume on RSR Management's website.
Here are some items off of it and a link to the resume below. It is a resume, but even if you sift out some of the BS/fluff, it is pretty impressive.

      BY THE NUMBERS

      MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY
      OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR & QUARTERBACKS/RECEIVERS COACH
      3 Big Sky Championships: 2002 ,2003 & 2005

Re: Bailey hired as quarterbacks coach

This was piggybacked on the women's BB WNIT article in today's Argus:

        Football staff shuffle

With Don Bailey being named the quarterbacks coach, the SDSU football team is officially handing the offensive coordinator duties to assistant head coach Luke Meadows.

A member of the staff for the past six seasons, Meadows - in addition to coaching the offensive line - had shared offensive coordinator duties with the departed Daren Wilkinson the past two years.
"I think he's ready and he works so hard in our program," Jacks head coach John Stiegelmeier said. "I think it was a no-brainer, really."

A former offensive coordinator at Montana State, Bailey will likely have some input in the passing game by virtue of his duties with the quarterbacks. Stiegelmeier said that has become the standard arrangement in most programs.

I saw that also about Coach Meadows. Luke is a great guy, the kids love to play for him. He loves the grind it out ...in your face running game. In combination with Coach Bailey I think they will make a great pair. No worry about getting along Luke is a great asset to our program.
