Ah, the DOG clock (another TLA! I love it!--see discussion in the T&F forum)...

AFAIK, those things are placed per NCAA (or MVFC) rule--at Howard Wood they're on poles. Putting it on the building may have been unavoidable.

BTW: I'm wondering if they'll try and train ivy on the stadium facing side of the building--or plant some shrubs or something.

That is where my train of thought was going on why it wasn't on a pole. It was just hard for me to fathom that corner of the Dykhouse was were the clock used to be at. Man, that building is close. The view from that deck is going to be amazing.

As far as the shrubs go, I have always liked the hedges in the home stadium of Georgia, I think.

That would be a nice touch--find some that keep their leaves longer than most and plant 'em around the new stadium....

How about a big funnel and tube system starting on the roof that collects the balls and deposits them, gumball-machine-style back onto the field through a door at the bottom.

This is college football. Beer-bong-style might be more appropriate.

I say we put that Junior Jacks club to work! They all have enough energy to run them back and forth...

I feel dumb even asking this since I consider myself a pretty in-the-know Jacks fan, but how is the entrance of the team going to differ once the center is done? I assume that the lockers in the SE corner will be gone.

While ordering tickets for this weekend's game I found this picture on Go Jacks. I miss the trees, but the building, especially the viewing deck area will be cool when its finished. I haven't seen it since the first few bricks were on so I'm kind of excited to see what it looks like now.

I have a family member who works at the company and he said they recently (past four weeks or so) fired the foreman. They have replaced him with a go-getter who has gotten more done in the past three weeks than the previous one. Plus the company is putting in more time, before this summer they were working 4-10 hour days with Fridays off.

I can vouch for the no Fridays. During the spring baseball season we would sit at the game wondering why there was NO activity on the building site. Later discovered that they never worked on Friday. I'd have to say that the bonus for early completion was too small.

To be fair to the contractor, there were ALOT of construction type companies that cut back to 4 day work weeks and 40-45 hour schedules this summer. They can't afford to pay alot of overtime when there isn't much for work in the pipeline. Companies don't want to work themselves out of an income stream and pay extra to do it if they aren't up against penalty or work deadlines.

IIRC the deadline was the end of November/early December, and from what I've heard they are on schedule to complete it by then. It may not be as early as some people hoped for, but thats what the contract allows so there is no sense in beating up the contractor for not being done before then.

Here's a pic taken Saturday prior to the Indiana State game, showing the west side of the Dykhouse Center -- you can see the portion of the building extending north. Note the workers -- this was taken about 2:30 or 3 p.m.

Noticed a couple people in the windows watching the game. We were discussing during the Georgia Southern game there should be a target placed on top of the Dykhouse Center for the kickers to aim at. Was expecting to see an extra net this week to stop the balls from staying on the roof.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

I don't know about a target but seeing this building makes me believe that they should put a giant Jackrabbit or SDSU logo just above the roof of the building centered on the field.

                              Or, eventually, another video board/scoreboard.

Thanks Filbert. You're always thinking about the fans. I was just thinking about how cool it would be to have a giant like 20 X 40 foot jackrabbit perched an top of the roof of the Dykhouse Center.

But maybe another great scoreboard woud work too.
