As pointed out above the fees for the State Engineer and the SDSU engineer are only 1% or the project cost.

As I mentioned earlier, I think the real objection was cost added to the project to comply with their building standards, as opposed to the costs of their services.

The things you guys have been talking about for the past few pages is the exact reason why I decided not to become an architect.

Now we've heard enough about bliz-blaz and him-ham already. Let's see some new pics of the site!! I wanna see how it's coming along.

Drove by the Dykhouse Center today, most of the brick work on the front was done. I'll go by again tomorrow and get a couple of pictures to post.

Not sure, but I believe the brick work on the front (south) is done. There is a 3-4 foot space above the brick, which I think will have some other kind of finish, just below the roof. Workers were washing and cleaning the brick on Thursday, which will allow for the windows to be installed on the front. My understanding is that the brick work on the west side, which will be what can be seen from the home stands, is also scheduled to be completed by the first game, which will at least give a nice appearing building for football fans to see.

I was a little surprised earlier to see how close the building is to the goal posts.

I drove by Coughlin Alumni Stadium today at about 6:10 p.m. (Saturday, Aug. 29) and shot a couple pictures showing the Dykhouse Center. After taking the pictures, I drove by the practice football field across the street east from CAS and the team was practicing. While I've complained a little about the lack of heat this summer, the weather was perfect for August practices.

Attached are two pictures. As noted by Jacks#1fan, the building seemed close to the goal posts. But, my perspective was only from the south. The building now looks much bigger than I thought it was going to be as the initial blockwork was being constructed.

The Dykhouse Center really changes the look of CAS --- season tickets have arrived---can't wait for the first game!

Drove by CAS today also. The Dykhouse Center really shortens up the look of the field when you look to the north. Great looking facility and will look even better when the east side starts to be constucted.

I wonder if they will continue the design style of the Dykhouse Center throughout the rest of the rebuilt CAS? Would love to see a similiar brick facade around the entire stadium.

The DC style, with the interesting roof angles seems to match the Wellness Center, which is a good thing.

I know it has been said here before, but I was at CAS again this week and realized again just how big of building the Dykhouse really is. When you are down on the field it is huge.

I also noticed there is another trailer/modular home at the Stadium now, this one is right by the current lockerroom, or between there and the student entrance. I don't know why it would be there for sure, and hope it's gone by the first game, but it's not attractive and in a really bad spot. A lot of folks going to the game will have to walk right by it or around it to get into CAS.

While we are on this subject, is there any reason for the half fallen down, ugly green snow fence that is located along North Campus Drive in between the stadium and the soccer practice field? It seems like there are a number of little projects on that side of campus that could be fixed up in order to make that area look a lot better.

Most of the coaches are now working from the trailers. Closer to the field, closer to move when the Dykhouse is ready.

I understand that...I just don't know why this new/extra trailor was placed where it is right before we starting brining in thousands of folks to CAS. I'm sure there is a good reason for it that I don't see, but with some of the eyesores around that place that could easily be fixed at a low cost I wonder if those things are even considered sometimes.

The quick guess would be to keep soccer balls from rolling into the street.

Wow, the DC is going to make it really obvious that CAS needs to be replaced. It's interesting how you get complacent and just get used to what you have when you don't build anything new in decades. It definitely stands out.

I wonder if the new (additional) trailer might be for the officials? Maybe security, game management, first aid etc? But I agree its an eye soar.

But the Dykhouse Center is going to be spectacular. They are trying to finish the exterior of the south and west sides. That at least will dress the place up. Or undress Coughlin as the old stadium is starting to show its age.
