    The Sagarin Ratings are out

The Sagarin ratings are out. I am not sure how they assign the ratings before the season starts, perhaps partially on last year and maybe an average of several past years. Anyway they are interesting. We are rated 137 in Division I and if I counted right 24th in FCS football. They list us fourth in the Great West. The Great West is ranked higher than the Gateway Conference. If the xDSU's are calculated with the Gateway instead of the Great West, then Gateway is the rated higher.

It will be interesting to watch what happens once games are played.

I believe most rating systems do depend in part on last year's results, at least for the first few weeks of the season until they have enough data on the new season. Another reason why pre- and early-season polls aren't worth too much effort/concern/bother/etc. except as bulletin board material.

Hey, wait, we're a bulletin board!!!
