And here's a quick look at candidates per team -- no surprise that NDSU leads the way with 2.9 candidates/year of Valley membership, followed by SDSU at 1.9/year. Northern Iowa and Illinois State lead in raw numbers of candidates with 65 and 52, respectively, but have both been in the Valley all 40 years since its inception.

Outlying number of candidates per school for each position group - ISUr is historical LB-U with 11 total, the only school and position with double digit candidates. Of course, annualizing the numbers changes it a bit - NDSU leads the way with 0.47 OL/year, 0.35 DL and DB/year, and 0.29 QB, RB, and TE/year. SDSU also put up 0.29 RB, WR, and OL candidates/year. Illinois State's LB's come out to 0.28/year to round out the top-10 annualized positions (excludes a LB outlier value from WKU's 6-year conference stint).
