  • 2024 FCS Playoffs Pick'em/Discussion - Round 2

Everyone is welcome to join, even if you missed round 1. If you see below, you'll notice you won't be alone. It's free to join, free to play, and the prize at the end is worth what you pay for it - just ask the reigning champ, SteelSD.

Reminder of the rules - Correct picks in rounds 1-2 are worth 1 point each, round 3/quarterfinals are worth 2 points each, round 4/semifinals are worth 3 points each, and the championship game is worth 5 points. Choices may either be an outright winner, or a spread pick if the game isn't expected to be close.
    • SORRY --- this week features a lot of spreads. I know they're everyone's favorite.... but it just wouldn't be very interesting otherwise, would it? That's just how the FCS looks like it's crumbling this year. Right or wrong, spreads are taken from Massey and Reddit's FCS Sportsbook

Rounds 2 and after will feature a predicted margin of victory for each game to be used as tiebreakers. Your prediction will stand whether or not you correctly picked the winner. If you predict a margin of victory will be 7 points, and the game finishes 7-0 or 40-47, you'll have a perfect zero MOV for that game, regardless of who wins. If the game ends in say.... a 59-0 drubbing... you'll score a gaudy and very bad 52... Lowest average/total MOV will get the nod in the event of a tie. Predicted spreads have zero impact on the MOV portion - that's totally up to you whether or not to eat all those predicted spread points in your own prediction.
    • Please just enter a numeric value here, 7, 27, 77, etc. Don't spell it out. Don't write other nonsense words or teams. I know you won't be able to claim your allegiance to NDSU if you pick Abilene Christian to cover the spread of 24 in the pick'em, and put your predicted MOV at 22... We'll just never know who you think will actually win... Maybe you're in fact supremely confident in ACU too, or maybe the Bison are your favorite... either way, doesn't matter.... If you feel your opinions need to be heard, feel free to chat about it below.

First game is actually at 1 pm central this time! Happy picking!

    2024 FCS Playoffs Pick'em - Round 2 - FORM

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Round 1 with some interesting upsets and spread results that rocked the bottom line of most of us... The only unanimous pick of the whole week was #9 Richmond winning by 8+, problem is, they lost by 4. Our friendly neighborhood mangy pup fan is in sole 1st place with 6 of 8 picks correct - congrats on a good week 1, Yoteforever! Big Stone Jacks with a close 2nd place with 5 correct picks... then a lot of sadness all the way to the bottom...... sorry NorCalJack. Oof... Hope you stick around though! There's still plenty of time to make up picks. And good news too - anyone else that wants to jump in this week will not be alone at zero! Reigning champ is off to a FIRE start as well!

Thanks yoteforever for pointing out a mistake of mine. Rhode Island is not in fact favored by 11 over Mercer. So, if ya'll are smart, you'll take the very generous 'any other result' option, unless you really feel that strongly about the Rams this week.

Can always count on those lawyers and doctors to point out the mistakes of the silly engineers and farmers from up here....

I'm just a dummy on all sorts of betting, gambling, pick 'ems and the like.
I see the Oracle from the South has attained the rank of #1.

Only 10 of the 25 pickers from last week are in so far, with a couple new pickers joining the fray. Remember to get your picks in folks!

Should’ve read the instructions more thoroughly. When I did the “Any Other Result” option I specified who was winning. My bad.
