  • Fall Camp 2024

Zimmer was at the first day of Fall camp. Good stuff. If you don't subscribe to SFLive, you should consider it. Zimmer puts out a lot of content and you get access to some other good writers as well.

He mentioned a transfer from Colorado Mesa, Hudson Metcalf, being in the mix for playing time at LB. That's a name that I hadn't heard mentioned before.

There was also a Und lineman that apparently started last season that is supposed to be good. Heard about the coach don’t remember seeing anything on the big fella.

Sam Hagen. 6-6, 320 junior and former OL starter for the Fighting Hawks. He is likely to be a starter for the Jacks this season.

Great stuff, WestSide. Thanks. I look forward to reading your review of every position group, especially wide receiver.

Wondering what happened to Colby Christensen. Heard he was in the mix on O-line during spring ball and he's no longer listed on the roster...

Not directly related to Fall Camp, but we now know who Tom Manzer's successor will be, Ryan Howlett.

Ryan will bring his own style to the PA booth but I hope there is one lesson he takes from Tom Manzer: the cheerleaders are on the field. Manzer had just the right touch. There was rare, well-timed "advice" to fans coming out of the DJ Dykouse PA booth but it was rare and it wss well timed. Compare:: In my opinion, the NDSU PA guy is an example of a PA guy detracting from the atmosphere. Now, it's not a big deal but when I hear that goofy NDSU guy yell such stuff as "The march is on!" and get very little reaction from the rank-and-file yellow and green fans, I conclude that guy just likes to hear himself talk. And then when the Bison lose,..I wonder just where was that march going?

I'd have to say, I've been spoiled with Manzer's style.

I'm curious to see how much it changes; only "quibble" I'd have with bold phrase is that hopefully there is also a stadium full of avid Jack backer's making noise too

Just took a swing by DJD. They've added 2023 to the outer scoreboard panel (paired with smaller "2022" and were adding similar signage to the west side stands). I'd been wondering when they'd do that
