    Rant…
What is the deal with the concession stands. I have never seen any thing more poorly ran. The line was always 50’ long. Why isn’t every concession stand open when the game is sold out?

It's just an old Army trick I learned in the Navy.

Have you noticed that some of the booths that previously sold "traditional" concession items have shifted to beer sales?

I still think they're working through adapting to staffing shifts to accommodate changing sales model. Having said that, if you peruse threads from years ago, concession lines have always been a complaint.

Maybe a contract amendment will be forthcoming to improve the situation, but I suspect that would involve some privatization/increased cost, which will be another thing some complain about, and I'm not saying your complaint isn't valid.

I'd be fine with students selling common concession items in aisles like they used to at Coughlin to reduce strain on concessions, but that would involve addressing one of my rants -- folks who can't abide by almost universal aisle traffic "customs" (e.g., stay to the right when in aisles -- it's baffling people think using both sides when ascending or descending in the aisles won't cause bottlenecks).

I'm not going into all the particulars and politics. Foodservice all over campus has tanked from what I understand, and this correlates with Sodexho taking over for Aramark
With fans like this who needs enemas.....

Have heard the same from family members who work on campus.

I heard the concession stands used to be manned by volunteers who are raising money for whatever reason. Is that still the case? Do they have trouble finding enough people to work on gamedays? If there were more workers, could they open more areas to sell concessions? On the east side there are a few gates they open up for people to use when the game ends. Could they rent those areas to a few food trucks to help take some pressure off of the concession stands?
One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.

I know they had food trucks in the lot east of the Union.

Where would they park the trucks in the east lot adjacent to DJD, and are you advocating reducing the number of east side parking spots so people can get food pregame or somehow having those foodtrucks outside and providing food to folks who have entered the stadium once the game begins?

If the former, why not use the section of North Campus Drive west of the entrance to the Wellness Center parking lot to just east of Ag. Engineering Bulding so that you're not reducing the already limited parking on the east side?

They still use volunteer groups - the people working the one I visited yesterday all had Madison HS gear on.

International student groups frequently staff the east side stands I visit, and honestly, I hope they're not volunteers due to limitations on financial aid they receive and the snide comments I've overheard about them from people behind me in line.

Do you know if SDSU is prohibited from having a return to "vendors" hawking some of the items in aisles?

There already a couple of private operations selling cheese curds and chislic in the stadium underneath the south end student section bleachers.

I wasn't at the game yesterday but I thought concessions were fine given the crowd at the MT St game. Big crowds make big lines and I didn't think the concessions were any worse than any other big athletic event.

I've learned not to expect to visit concessions during the game and not wait, so parents and/or I typically get a drink/pretzel before taking seat. Anyway, it sounds like it was indeed worse yesterday.

I think the temp. (and having sun beating down on us) might have been a factor yesterday (at least on the east side) with people making more frequent trips for refreshments (and restrooms)

For most of the games, the concession lines are very manageable and move quickly. The crowd moves in at halftime and close to the quarter breaks...signs of success attributable to the packed house

I was thinking they could open those gates and pull the truck up to block the opening and have their window available to those in DJD. They would have to park on the grass.

I suppose that could work, if it's not a fire code/emergency access issue via those gates, and if it doesn't cause consternation among folks who tailgate along the fence on the east side.

I think there would only be one gate near the northeast that would be an option.
