Former SDSU Head Football Coach John Gregory passed away on Sunday at the age of 84 at his home in Gastonia, NC. Coach Gregory was the Head Coach at SDSU for ten seasons from 1972-1981 and had a record of 55-50-3. He went on to coach at Northern Iowa and then to the CFL with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders who won the Grey Cup while he was Head Coach. Coach Gregory then was Head Coach and GM of the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League and led the team to two appearances in the Arena Bowl.
Services will take place on January 31, 2023 at 2:00PM at the McLean Funeral Home in Gastonia, NC (700 South New Hope Road). The Gregory family is requesting those attending wear their favorite football jersey. In lieu of flowers, please provide a donation in John Gregory's name to everykidsports.org or kidsportcanada.ca.
