  • NCAA FCS semi-final: vs Montana State

    Time and date still TBD.

Today’s win was obviously not our best effort in the defensive side of the ball and I think Holy Cross was definitely better than we thought they would be.

One of two things is going to happen. Either this was uncharacteristic of our D and they will use it to figure out how to handle the Bobcats rushing QBs, or we will get run out of the stadium next week. Montana State fans are licking their chops right now and I would be too if I were them. But I have a feeling we see a return to our normal run D next week and a better effort in tackling. The problem is that the guys we will be tackling are probably better than Sluka. Maybe not as passers, but as runners, they probably have the best combined backfield in the country.

Im going to assume and hope that this game was a trap game and our D will fix whatever was broken today. If we don’t, we are going to have to score 50 to win next week and as great as our offense is, we are more of a ball control methodical offense this year and aren’t built to get into a track meet.

Its one and done for a chance at Frisco against the hottest team in the FCS and a chance at revenge for getting knocked out last week. Sure hope more of our fans are there to see it.

Yup. Not surprising. Was hoping for the Friday game though.

For the love of God, if you are a jacks fan, please bring a friend or two to this game. We’ve never had a fall semi-final game at home and this is our chance. Need every single person there for it.

If you're hoping for increased attendance, a Friday night game would be counterintuitive.

Rogers will make the necessary adjustments, and for all of the talk about the Bobcats being the hottest FCS team, folks will be reminded that Jacks are riding a longer winning streak and have the same number of wins.

I think that the jacks thought they were ready for a running QB today, as they did fine against Mo St and UND. i give credit to sluka. i think maybe he was a bit more sudden or more explosive than those runners. i think the jacks thought they were gonna tee off on him the way they did against Shelley.

i believe that will be fixed for the game next week. instead of trying to line up the BIG hit they will make sure they get a hold of Tommy

i have great confidence the jacks play well next week. and i liked it that ID mentioned in the post game interview that he did not have a good game against them last year

I more just like the thought of a Friday night game under the lights. Not really expecting increased attendance that night. Just personal preference.

I think they are the hottest team right now, but I don’t think that equals them winning. Just that they are riding a major win into next weekends game. It’s be very hard for them to follow up that performance with something else so dominant. I still like us in this game, but it’ll take our best defensive effort of the year to do it, because I think they are the best offense we will play.

I'll concede that one benefit of the Friday game would've been a likely corresponding reduction in Bobcats fans.

Holy Cross had a vocal section on the east side, complete with their own cowbells, and I'd expect MSU to have at least triple the number of fans they did.

Mellott frustrated me last year when I was watching from home, but I'm still not sold on the fact that their offensive prowess isn't skewed by their conference's defensive "weakness" when compared to the Valley's.

Holy Cross's own fans were admitting they were getting away with holds, and while that didn't completely explain Sluka's rushing total, it definitely kept drives alive.

Here we are again, only this time it is in your house.

I cant say that I'm surprised that this rematch of last years semi-final game is now a reality. I expect it to be a good tough game. We have all week to analyze this so I wont go there right now.

I have watched 3-4 of your games this year and know that it will be a huge challenge for the Bobcats.

Lots of chatter on Montana St social media about our poor attendance yesterday. Many of them stating they’re planning on coming to Brookings next weekend.

Bottom line: Yes, it’s going to be cold but we need our whole damn state to show up next weekend! Get everyone there!

SDSU Admin, Student Association, Facilities, and Food Service deserve recognition for adapting yet again to try to facilitate increased student attendance.

I'm not going to berate folks for being leery of travel given forecast, but it will be damn disappointing if MSU fans are more than five percent of attendees (and even that will be annoying).

Sounds like Daktronics is facing fiscal strain, so maybe they could shut down operations for afternoon and offer folks the day off without burning leave.

Personally, I wish KELO Travel would've focused more on the games in Brookings for bus trips rather than Frisco.

Not sure if you were at yesterday's game, but one thing that irked me about the home fans was when they tried to drown out the Crusaders' fans when Jacks were on offense. We should be knowledgeable enough to know that our goal there is to reduce noise by maximizing probability offense can sustain drive (and ideally score to shut opponents' fans up)

It’s annoying but I’m not going to bash any soul who came yesterday. It was great to have them there.

These are nationally televised playoff games. I know it’s cold and a busy time of year but the fact that we can’t get more than 6,000 people there is embarrassing. The September/October attendance was incredible this year. We need to sustain that.

I decided to practice some “South Dakota Nice”, and offer directions to the game.

Keep driving south on Interstate 29, and take the exit at SD Hwy. 50. Then drive west 7 miles!

I agree completely. All I can do at this point is make more noise for those who are absent.

When I renew my season tickets, I'm always offered the opportunity to purchase/donate to purchase extra veteran/active duty tickets for the Military Appreciation game. I'd be willing to pony up a few more dollars to fund outreach and additional tickets for local/regional low-income fans who might not otherwise be able to attend, particularly if Athletics reported details on those impacted. For instance, if firms like KELO Travel established routes from Sioux Falls, Pierre, Watertown, Aberdeen, Huron, etc. on game days.

What is the deal with your attendance. Your a successful team at the top of the FCS, and have been for years, good facilities, good stable coaching staff, obviously have university administrative support, no FBS teams in the area. I would expect you to have a fanbase like NDSU, MSU or UM. Must be some factor that I am not seeing.
