Big test this weekend and one of our few opportunities left for a ranked win on the year. If USD drops a game to WIU, this will be our only remaining shot at a ranked win.

Apparently Cam Miller has replaced Quincy Patterson at WB, partly due to injury and partly due to performance. Assuming it is more performance related, I think that tells us all we need to know about the NDSU offense and passing game. I expect them to run the ball 80% of the time and try to throw deep to Watson, which is why having Gardner back would be huge for us. Their D is stout, but the best offense they’ve played so far was MSU. If our line plays to their potential, I think we will be able to run the ball effectively. And if we do that, play action should be there.

Chris has played well, but he can’t force passes this game and he needs to throw the ball away more. He’s been taking too many sacks while dancing around in the backfield, creating negative plays. I’m thinking we will see some designer runs for him this game.

Finally, I think we need to win this game by two scores at least to vault ourselves back into the top 5-8. As I said before, this might be our only shot at a ranked win. USD fading and UND with five losses aren’t going to boost the resume much, and we already blew it against our other two ranked teams. An FBS win, a win over number 2 NDSU, and a win over a top 40 Yote team should put us back into the top 8, and with some major help, back into the top 4. One game at a time and all that, but this is a big game for us to show that we are still a top team and capable of winning a title.

I'll be as interested in their LB depth as I am in the QB, because I'm not sure any team wants to face Jacks' offense with a depleted defense.

The extent to which Miller starting was due to Patterson's performance is debatable, as at least one report was that Patterson's shoulder injury led him to not "feel comfortable" during warmups. Who knows whether they're framing the injury as being the reason he didn't start to preserve Patterson's confidence/reputation.

In case we needed a potential Gameday plot twist. Alas, they'll apparently be in Cincinnati.

        Hello old friends!

I'll fill in a a few gaps about what is going on in Fargo.

QP2 (Quincy's acronym) is a beast of a runner. He also throws an excellent deep ball connecting with Watson many times. However, he sucks and any throw less than 40 yards, which has caused NDSU to struggle when teams regularly stack the box. He was dinged up during the Missouri St game, but count me in the group skeptical on just how bad it is. He was yanked after a bad pick, and Cam led a cold blooded come back in a game NDSU could have easily lost. He also played tremendous football yesterday, however, I admit it was only the lowly trees.....

I'd be shocked if Cam does not start, with maybe some packages for QP2 to run. Cam looks a lot more comfortable in the offense, and did well against Missouri St, a very legit team this year. Reminds me a lot of Brock Jensen; not a huge arm, but smart and can run well enough. Has played much better than he did in the Spring, but as mentioned above, only 2 quarters against a decent team.

So, how would I attack NDSU? I'd stack the box against Cam and make him beat you. If they don't run, send pressure and see how he does. On offense, you guys have what you need.....if the NDSU defense has any vulnerability, it is to a solid run game. If you are forced to throw, you will probably get in trouble.

With all this said, what the heck is going on with ticket sales? I don't get it.

I'll be fine without the QB injury and Bison win.

I'm hoping for a game in which a Jacks' victory seems assured from their second offensive series, with either the shine "coming off" Miller or Patterson fumbling the game away after Tolu welcomes him to DJD with an epic strip sack.

The Dakota Marker has its own Wikipedia page. From Wikipedia: the Marker series stands NDSU 10, SDSU 7. The Marker has been in Brooking since April 17, 2021 when the Jackrabbits won in Fargo, 21-17.

I got a good feeling. Jacks will find a way. Eck has a lot of tricks up his sleeve.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bison start Patterson and see if they can win running the ball with the switch to Cam if they need a spark or fall behind.

The key to any game against the Bison, of course, relies on if you can stop the run and stay disciplined and avoid giving up the big play on play action pass.

The Bison have a good, balanced defense, but they seem to lack those individual ‘studs’ they’ve had in years past.

Hopefully the coaches drill drill Oladokun on quick decisions. He’s not going to have much luck sitting in the pocket and waiting for routes to develop this week. He ran for 500 yards and 8 touchdowns at Sanford - tuck it and go if it’s not there.

I'm intrigued by the tricks Rogers might have up his sleeve. I think the Jacks have a defensive score or two in store

I'm worried about this post. We were up 20-0 on SIU and I turned to my buddy and said "I think we are going to be OK" He agreed. Every one yawned, fans, coaches and team, at the blow out and look what happened!

Now I know who to blame for that loss.

Looks like this is the only place to talk about the game. Crazy how dead bisonville is....... So, I've been out of the SDSU loop for a while.....any word on how Gibbs recovering is coming along? Felt terrible for that young man with all the injuries he's had. You guys are potentially going to have so many QBs next fall, it is nuts, but great problem to have. And how about Granowski? Any word?

SDSU needs this one more than the Bison. It's in Brookings which may or may not matter. I'd like to think we'll come out determined and what not knowing how crucial a win would be. But who knows. Probably a 50/50 chance.
