curious?? i pay very VERY little attention to espn. i am guessing that they are NOT doing game day for the spring season, since its only fcs??? maybe i am wrong?? feel like i must be correct or seems like they would have done some mvfc games already due to the dominant nature or our conference related to the fcs landscape as a whole
Thanks for taking the joke in stride. Seriously, I enjoy your posts.

You're correct, but I can think of something the Jacks can do in Frisco that will make Gameday almost certain to return to Brookings

NO PROBLEM buddy)) even if someone did take a jab at me i am NOT smart enough to be offended)) i truly appreciated your comment. believe me i have met me before))) i KNOW that i have a mild problem with taking the long way around)!!

really trying to not do too much looking forward. ya know as a coach gotta take it one game at a time. i have ALWAYS been a BIG believer the philosophy behind stigs 1-0 thinking, except as a coach and many other places in life i have broken it down beyond one game at a time to ONE PLAY AT A TIME. according to telecast yesterday now the jacks apparently have a mental strength coach, who helps them to play the NEXT play- could not ask for a better example of that than the play yesterday after the goofy fumble/ not fumble/ not intentional grounding call

anyway, as i began to say, really trying NOT to look to far foward, but really do think the jacks have an excellent chance to be in frisco) especially if the O line can play like they did yesterday))!! and the D can continue to make incremental improvement. ANYWAY so i really hope the jacks get to do that thing in frisco)) maybe game day will do a special spring appearance for the playoffs or at least frisco?)

and thank you for taking my crazy posts in stride

The official near the Jacks bench threw a flag when the Jackrabbit players rushed the field, since we weren't ableto hear the officials call, Im thinking the call was off setting penalties. Intentionao grounding and unnecessary celebration. Just a thought I had.

I believe that was just a warning for leaving the bench. You get one warning before you get an actual penalty.

sorry i know i have whined about this before. ironically in my coaching days i almost NEVER argued with officials and did not worry about it because i knew i had no control over it. WOW i find it much harder as a fan to keep calm about the terrible officiating. cuz as coach i had job to do and things i could control that were more important than worrying about refs. wont get into all that but it had everything to do with the lessons i was ALWAYS trying to teach my kids.

anyway, VERY happy it did not matter, unlike many calls against UND which definitely seemed to impact the momentum and direction of the game. speaking of und, anyone watch the bison and sioux game? quarter 4 ndsu basically tackles und wr. ref standing right there. und wr looks at him like HOW are you not pulling the flag. NOTHING i couldnt help but think if our DBs were allowed to play like that NO WAY we lose that game

it will be nice when the huge majority of close calls and terrible calls stop going against the jacks. that said the jacks have obviously done a lot LOT better job with penalties last 2 games. i think 3 last week and probably no more than that today

but i truly do not understand it. game after game refs make terrible calls that hurt the jacks. there are DEFINITELY some bad calls that have helped the jacks, but no doubt the ledger is tilted in the wrong direction. it is like refs let ndsu get away with crap bc they think ndsu is NOT SUPPOSED to lose consequently they should get the benefit of the doubt. WHEN do we think officials will realize that the jacks are one of very few teams on the tier just below the bison. clearly we are the next best program in the conference and very few schools outside of fargo would ever be favored in a game against the jacks

i absolutely do not think which team is favored should have ANYTHING to do with it! either it is a penalty or it is not! refs should be color blind toward uniforms. but clearly some refs ref a game like one team is supposed to win. i would love to think that had nothing to do with todays call and NOT saying it did, but hey SIU rated one spot higher, and at home where they whipped ndsu, and at that point had momentum on their side WHO knows what the heck refs think about?? zero logical reason that call should have been called the way it was! thank goodness the D did not hang their heads and made the next play too))!!! as a coach stig had to be VERY proud of them for that!!!!

anyway i hope the rest of the year either refs will just ref without any preconceptions OR the they will realize that the jacks are supposed to win more than they apparently think)) OR the crappy calls will finally begin to even out
I thought the holding penalty on our first drive was worse, I rewatched it and all mason did was throw a guy down not even close to a hold.

come on GJ2487)) i was HAPPY not to see replay)) at least if i do not see replay i can hope maybe the jacks are not getting screwed by crappy officiating. dont give me MORE material. cant you see i am unstable and close to blowing a valve over the refs doing damage to the jacks on a MUCH TOO regular basis))

that being said i am SADLY not even slightly surprised

The box score's play by play appears to support your interpretation (only mentioning a fumble and incompletion on that 2nd down). I mentioned the FB being in vicinity previously, but Strong (#5) was in flat in very general direction Williams was "passing"

Unfortunately, he had ahold of the guy outside the shoulders and essentially tackled him. The play's at the 13.48 mark for anyone wanting to review it.

It definitely wasn't a pancake block, so I don't have an issue with that call.

I'll tell you what had me sweating bullets was the Jacks pitching it on the 4th and 1 on that drive. Glad it worked, but that was definitely unconventional.

You might want to have a couple quarts of SDSU ice cream and Pepto on hand for when Jacks play the Bison.

I watched a bit of the UND-NDSU game and thought the ref looked familiar. He was indeed the ref for the Jacks-UND game, and I'd be willing to bet he'll be in Fargodome on 4/3. You'll also notice the U, L, and SJ were same folks from Jacks' UND game.

Refs missed 3 blatant DPI calls on NDSU in yesterday's game. If the same refs are there and favor the Bison like yesterday, it will be very difficult to win up there.

It was horrible officiating that is typical of Fargo, refs just bad in the Fargodome for the visiting team.

WOW WOW WOW jake!! if i understand correctly, you are telling me the SAME refs who, in my admittedly biased opinion, helped UND beat the jacks, spent yesterday helping NDSU beat UND???? if we have them at ndsu. PLEASE dont tell me)))) have we met before? do you have some reason to want to make my head pop off))))

wow if it is same refs they should REALLY have to answer some questions. bc their interpretation of legal pass coverage definitely changed, related to what was legal for the jacks and what was legal for the bison

i am OUT now for a while i need to get my positive mojo going and do everything i can to send positive vibes in the direction of austin)))) GO RABBITS!!

I'm hoping the Jacks can rest PSJ next week and then have him available against the Bison to have a full cadre of RBs and make the rushing totals yesterday look paltry in comparison.

It looks like they penalized both teams three times yesterday (NDSU for illegal formation and offside twice; and UND twice for false start and DPI).

Their calls in Jacks-UND game were DPI twice, IM, offside, holding, unsportsmanlike conduct, tripping and ineligible man on Jacks; and DPI twice on UND. That list includes offsetting penalties.

I mention the penalties because they don't seem to have a propensity to call holding, but they do have a SJ who seems to have a DPI flag that just has to be thrown.

I'm thinking Noland and/or Miller are going to have a few rather unpleasant meetings with a certain Ogrunrinde that'll render the refs moot.

I'd almost be willing to bet you a dish of SDSU ice cream at a game this fall the ref will be the same. For one thing, he's an attorney in NE, so travel and Covid isolation concerns are reduced. For another, he also reffed YSU-NDSU.

I can only hope the SJ is different.

you know bad refs are annoying BUT even bad refs can be acceptable IF they are bad in BOTH directions

we all remember the VERY obvious interference NO CALL against the jacks vs und and another blatant NO CALL yesterday. so if you have an itch to call DPI ok then all players just need to play accordingly but when you call it on one team and not the other that is nearly impossible to deal with. it really really makes the game tough

truly after decades as a coach i go into EVERY game simply expecting the refs to suck. but i just ask that they suck in both directions

I couldn't handle watching enough of the NDSU game to determine how questionable the penalties were. Sorry, I despise that team, even if I hoped UND would get their first loss.

If officials' tendencies hold, the Jacks know they probably shouldn't do anything with the ball after a big play other than handing it to the refs and that PI will be strictly enforced against them, even if it isn't against the Bison.

Hopefully that game progresses much like the Saluki one, so the outcome is never in doubt, and Jacks decrease the likelihood they'll play in Fargo again until 2022
