BTW, did you plan the open date to coincide with the SD state holiday (pheasant opener)?  Nice timing!  Given your vast and dignified connections, I assume it was a piece of cake!
I have no connections, although I beg to be hooked up all the time. I haven't put enough effort ($$$) forward to merit connections that affect scheduling......yet .

      Re: NDSU game thread

I sure dont mind tailgating outside, but it is too bad that the game was played outdoors. I guess thats the way it will every other year until the BISON outgrow the Fabulous Fargo Dome.   When NDSU does move back outside our program will once again be degraded to the level of most college programs.  A college game (any game for that matter) should never boil down to footing, slippery field, torn up field, wind, wet ball, cold, snow etc etc.  Its a much better game inside.  Turf outside is the next best thing.

The conditions are part of the game.  Always have been, always will be.  As a former player, I can say that the best surfaces are: Field Turf, Natural Grass, Astro Turf.  No matter what the surface, I always enjoyed playing outside better, no matter the conditions.  That would put the Fargo Dome at the bottom of my list. Indoors is for basketball.

          I agree with that.

While I have never played FB, I enjoy the outdoor games the most. Lambeau field is the Mecca of football.

I do a well groomed field, but leave it grass if possible.

JBB can't be serious. My God, it's football for heaven's sake.

              Re: NDSU game thread

I doubt JBB is serious, besides i have talked with a few players who were recruited by NDSU/SDSU who chose SDSU because of the fact we don't have turf. The field and atmosphere on Saturday were outstanding, didn't BHS play at O'Gorman on friday night, not affecting CAS. One other thing about the pass interference, i was sitting in the east side south end on the ten yardline and couldn't tell if it was interference or not. The way the fans right behind the endzone erupted, they must have had a better look. You usually wouldn't get that big of reaction unless it was a blatantly missed call. I think if the stripes would have thrown the flag right away there would be no discussion today, but he delayed which insuates hesitation. I spoke with one the chain gang members after the game and he had said that there was no argument from the bison coaches. Coach Bohl asked if the pass was catchable, the ref said yes, and Bohl walked away. He must have saw something.

                Re: NDSU game thread

Saw the play on the broadcast and the DB held the receiver, almost certainly would have been a TD if he had not. Blitz was on, 1 on 1 coverage, can't blame the DB. If we can get the tape I would be happy to view it again, maybe I am mistaken.

                JBB is not being serious.

                  Re: NDSU game thread

Just a few general comments in responce to what I'm Reading on this thread:
I had mixed feelings about the leap to DIAA but now am very excited about the possibilities. To see the SD State score on ESPN for the first time made me very proud.

I was at the game and what a finish. It may not be "The Drive" ala Elway but it should make Rabbit history. It was grate to watch and my congrats to all of the SDSU players, coaches and fans that got to participate in such a great win!!!

I have been to quite a few games over the years (1985-present) but can say that the only other victory I can say was this exciting was the come from behind win against Auggie a few years back when the Jacks were down by 23-0 at half time and came back to win 24-23 in S.F.

I agree the NDSU fans showed more excitement at times (I was sitting on the east bleachers) but they took the loss with class for the most part my hats off to them they have a great program to be proud of. But this game showed that the Jacks fans have some thing to be proud of also. We will learn to get excited and I think SDSU already has a huge fan base from coast to coast.

In fact the most loud mouthed jerk of a fan (SDSU) sat near us at the game. I was so embaressed that I wanted to ask him to leave the game. He was old enough to know better and showed no respect for the Bison fans. My apologies to the NDSU fans that had to listen to him.

I do think that a worth while rivalry may have evolved out of this game. But what will make the rivalry work is for us SDSU fans to travel to Fargo in the years to come and for Rabbits to take it to the Bison in there own house. LETS GO JACKS!!!!

                      This might be a bit political but I couldn't resist . . .

Apparently, Pete Coors is running for Senate in Colorado, and was talking about the danger of nukular (sic) proliferation in Iran and North . . . Dakota.

I had to let the right wing wackos (and I say that proudly) on freerepublic.com know that the Jackrabbits have made the Union safe for another year . . .

At first I thought this call could go either way, but your insistance on it being a clear call made me go to the tape (from the Craig Bohl Football Show last night).

Watching it a second time at full speed, it appeared once again that it could have been called either way. Slowing it down frame by frame (repeatedly, and watching without bias), it's painfully obvious that the receiver's feet got tangled in Walter's feet (or vice versa). No hold involved.

Take it to the bank, courtesy of the slow-mo. ;D

Bisonguy: What about the earlier, questioned catch by NDSU..did it hit the turf first? I didn't have a clear look at it from my seat but some claimed it bounced but was called good. Did they show a clip of that catch?

Not a clear enough angle on it. I'll check it out again later, (some people work  ;D) and see. It didn't look like it hit the ground the first time through, but I'll try the super slow-mo on it. Usually it's pretty obvious, as you can see the ball moving upwards or stopping.

So, yes, they did show that reception.

Bohl does not give much credit to SDSU. Says that NDSU played their worst game of the season while SDSU played their best game.

It was a great game. North Dakota State is an excellent school. I'm proud to now call them our rivals. I think everyone would be well-served to accept the outcome and move on.
