    Re: Jason Connot

I believe one of the reasons that Scott and the rest of the family came from the border town of Spencer Nebraska, which is a stone throw from Fort Randall Casino to SDSU, is that their mother is from a well known family in the Volga area and also an SDSU alum. One member of the current SDSU men's BB team has exactly the same surname as Scott's mother.

I believe Scott &, Jason Connott and Andy Kleinjan are at least distantly related if not closely related.  The Kleinjan name spans several generations in the Volga area so I am not expert on the Kleinjan family tree.

That said I regret that things did not work out for Jason and wish him the best, and re-echo what Catchem said, about education being the most important factor in life and more important than football. That is not to say that Catchem's career was not important. It was and it demonstrates the results that the work ethic and the desire to compete have when one is participating in athletics and other activities.

I suspect we have professional musicians who got their start in the Pride or the Statesman choral group too.  They worked hard no doubt and did not fear competition.

The work ethic and the desire to compete is something that Student athletes bring to the work place that non-athletes like myself did not bring nor had during my full time working career. That is why I envy the student athlete and I only need to mention one name to prove my point. That name would be Sid Bostic.
