Um..... UNC Bear, according to Sagarian ratings (which is the best standard we have) the Jacks have a better SOS.  State was 123, UNC was 125.  Anymore myths you want debunked.

State fans.....is UNCbear actually a State fan just trying to have fun and stir things up. If so, I will ignore his baseless comments. Thank you.

A quick check of the facts dosen't support your assertion.  Although I am sure your schedule did seem hard to you.

      http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagar...f6PfSYOREAWoW3

Sagarin, has UNC's schedule ranked 125th toughest in D-I football.  SDSU's is ranked 123rd.

Great West 2004 schedule ranked toughest to easiest.

      SDSU - 123
      UNC - 125
      Cal-Poly - 151
      UC-Davis - 155
      SUU- 165
      NDSU - 175

      Go State!  ;D

Those rankings include w's and L's so ofcourse you will have a higher ranking. There's no freaking way you had a tuffer schedule.

At least we didn't schedule a division 3 team this season. Give me a break.

                  Re: Bears 2005 schedule

The Jacks could not have been 2-9 with the UNC schedule because we would have played UNC so we would have been 3-8.  With our schedule we ended up 6-5.  If you want to look at ifs we could have very well gone 8-3 this year with the close games we played.  As far as the scheduling goes that is the way it is going to be for a few years just as you schedlued two teams from the RMAC.  Besides that Wisconsin- La Crosse usually beats most DII schools.

You are right UNC does not have a d-3 team onboard. However, what did UNC schedule look like the first few years they transitioned. State needs to schedule a few home games and noone will come play them right now out of confernce. Their only choice is the U and the relationship is not the best. UW-L is d-3 but they are the best opponent in the area that will come play them. UW-L is not your average run of the mill d-3 team, they would be solid in d-2. Point being, the athletic dept. went out and got the best available team that would agree to home game. In a few years when State is in the same position that UNC is now, they will not have to schedule d-3 home games.

With a 2-9 record last year maybe you should have scheduled two. ;D

                      Go State! ;D

P.S. I think with both Georgia Southern and Montana on our schedule that our SOS will be going up, even with a D-III on it this year.

I would bet a buffalo nickel they would beat Fort Lewis, and probably Colorado Mines as well.

UNC, learn your lesson, don't come on here and make factless assumptions and then throw stones when someone proves you wrong. Even without the Sagarin ratings i would look at our schedule as tougher than yours. We played every conference game besides one on the road, the other D!AA away games were in very tough environments against good teams (GA So., Southern, and Montana St.)
And don't say it doesn't matter if you play road games just because we beat you in Greeley and you have no home field advantage. To most schools (UNC excluded) it is an advantage to play in front or an excited crowd on their home turf. I guess Greeley does have the altitude factor. Congrats.

                          Joey,

We are only a year behind UNC and we have a lot of home games this season.  I think the D-III team balances out the two I-AA super powers on our schedule Georgia Southern (6 time Champion of I-AA)   and Montana (2 time Champion and last year's Runner-Up in I-AA).

Looking forward to burying UNC at Coughlin later this year.

Which of my points do you disagree with? Look at the game notes. The game was indeed played in Greely, we did set a school record for penalties, the field was sloppy from a recent snowfall that continued to fall throughout the game and your squad had more scholarship athletes than the Jacks. I know you run from factual data like a blonde coed runs from Jason, but those are all factual truths. Your comment that your O-line was inexperienced is the only non-factual item in this discussion of the game.

By the way, your "toughest schedule in 1AA" has been made several times by you. Here's the only thing that matters. On one Saturday afternoon last year, your schedule included a game against SDSU. On that date, SDSU defeated UNC. Welcome to reality.
