Here is some info on Jay:

        http://www.gogriffons.com/fball/fbstaff.html

        JAY BUBAK - DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Jay Bubak starts his sixth season as a Griffon, becoming Western's defensive coordinator in 1999 after coaching the defensive backs in 1998. Under Bubak's watch, the Griffon defense has had two players earn All-America status - Eric "Ebo" Walker in 2002 and Pierre Thomas in 2003. Bubak's 2002 Griffon defense ranked No. 2 in the MIAA in scoring, limiting opponents to just 18.9 points per game and No. 2 in total defense, giving up just under 300-total yards per game. Bubak coaches a defense that has had an individual in the top-5 in total tackles in the MIAA for the past five seasons.
Bubak came to Missouri Western after serving as secondary coach and special teams coach at the University of South Dakota. Bubak is a 1993 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University where he was a graduate assistant coach for the outside linebackers before joining the staff at South Dakota. Prior to his appointment at South Dakota, Bubak was the defensive backfield and quarterbacks coach at Chase County High School in Imperial, Nebraska.
Bubak was a four-year letterwinner at Nebraska Wesleyan and as a senior strong safety, Bubak was team captain and defensive most-valuable-player while earning all-conference, all-America, and academic all-America honors. During his playing career, the Plainsman made the NAIA national playoffs in two seasons.

        Wecome Coach Bubak! 8)

Our friends from the MIAA had some good things to say over on d2football.com.

He seems like he will fit in well with Stig's integrity, i hope he can bring the fire and intensity of Ballard

Re: Another opening on the Coaching Staff

When you have NWMSU fans saying good things about a Missouri Western Coach, he has to be good and one who has gained their respect. Northwest and Missouri Western are big rivals and talk a lot of trash over on D2football.com

He seems to have the creditials and defense was something I felt Karl Ballard was getting a good handle on hopefully Coach Bukbak will pick up where Ballard left off and take us to a higher level. ;D

I hope we continue to get the best coaches possible. We need to continue to address the pay issue if we expect to keep these guys. Another point as the football team continues to become more diverse I would like to see more minorities on the coaching staff!
