CHIEFS MAKE SEVERAL ROSTER MOVES TO TRIM ROSTER TO 53 PLAYERS

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Saturday that the club had made several transactions to meet the NFL’s mandatory 53-man roster deadline. The club’s 2005 roster includes 13 players who were not on the club’s 53-man roster at any time during the 2004 season.
The Chiefs placed T Brett Williams on the Reserve/Injured List and terminated the contracts of CB Ashley Ambrose and QB Jonathan Quinn. The club also released the following players: T Thomas Barnett, WR John Booth, RB Dee Brown, S Scott Connot, DT Arrion Dixon, CB Alphonso Hodge, QB James Kilian, WR Jeris McIntyre, DE Clint Mitchell, DT Montique Sharpe, RB McKenzi Smith, TE Edwin Thompson, WR Craphonso Thorpe and DE Zach Ville.
NFL clubs are allowed to establish an eight-man practice squad beginning on Sunday, September 4th. Teams in the AFC West and the NFC South will each have an additional international development practice squad player in 2005. G Peter Heyer will be Kansas City’s international development practice squad player in 2005. Under the terms of this program, Heyer cannot be promoted to the 53-man roster in 2005.
