They do the same thing at Nebraska for bball games. They give you a shirt to wear, and you must wear if you want to sit in the student section.

I don't believe they can do this at SDSU since all students have an equal rite of access to the student section by paying their student fees. A better idea in CAS may be to set something up on the east side, just behind the visitor's bench.

I like that behind the east bench idea but I think if we could get the whole place wearing blue or yellow it would be better.  Maybe a towel night where blue and yellow towells are handed out to the first say 1500 people.  Of course the reserved seats would get them just because, which leaves the 1500 to be handed out to students.  Cowbells and towells galore...man Im glad I bleed yellow and blue.

I have enjoyed the enthusiasm of the students at the last couple of exhibition games, using first names on the opposing players...thats nice.

See you all tonight for the mens last exhibition game...Its the "Peac#cks" from Upper Iowa, hint, hint!

        Go Jacks!

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't think it's appropriate to single out individual players on the opposing team for ridicule (because of how they look, act, etc.). In fact, in the Hawk's Nest at Iowa, that was forbidden. The Big Ten made a big push against that sort of thing, and I think it was the right thing to do. Big Ten fans are pretty good about cheering for and against teams, not players.

Just a clarification...they were not ridiculing anyone. They were simply using the first names as in JULIE JULIE JULIE when they were at the free throw line.

Im not for ridiculing individuals for who they are either, they (our students) were just using there names in some different and unique ways.

Dont want this to be a negative towards you OK_Jack, (please do not take it that way) but you can stop comparing us to your other schools...we are not a Big 10 or Big 12 school, we have a long way to go. I understand your experiences...you have made it clear.

Cant we all just get along? :-*

I think it's sometimes useful to bring in perspectives from somewhere else. Things are changing at SDSU, and I have found my thoughts welcomed on this board and in discussions with administrators, fans, and others. I think I'm in a good position to do offer another perspective: being a Brookings native and SDSU graduate who has spent quite a bit of time away but now lives in Brookings again.

This is a discussion board. We discuss things here. It has been my experience here that many of us here don't respond well to anyone trying to stop anyone else from speaking their mind on this board. All perspectives, even ones that include experience at SDSU, Minnesota State, Iowa, Purdue, Oklahoma, and SDSU again, are welcome here. There are a few things we try not to discuss: We try to avoid discussion of rumors about student athletes. We try to avoid politics. We don't allow people to masquerade as multiple users. Other than that, the board is a place for a variety of people to bring their unique points of view to bear on issues related to Jackrabbit athletics. My point of view is this: 41-year-old Brookings native, former Argus Leader reporter, graduate of SDSU, graduate of Minnesota State, graduate of Iowa, professor at Purdue, professor at Oklahoma, professor at SDSU. Take that away from me, and I'll have literally nothing to say to anybody about anything.
