Comments by Stig - wish there were more people there, was tougher running that they were expecting
SUU has no talent, but worse, they have no class. Here's my favorite:
In the fourth, their left tackle, #70 goes bananas, laying on Justin Kubesh after the Jacks picked off a pass deep in our own territory and brought it back to the 50 or so. Who knows what started that, but cripes, you have to keep your head. There was no penalty, but the coaches, the refs, the other SUU players expended a lot of energy getting the guy off the field. He was completely out of control. Once off the field, he tossed his helmet and continued to trash talk and rant and rave. They couldn't get him settled down. A couple of coaches stood guard so he wouldn't attack the refs or anything, but he wouldn't shut up. SUU gets the ball back, and the guy's still over the edge on the sidelines. So what do the coaches do? They put him back in the game. And, of course, he gets an unsportsmanlike penalty first chance he gets.
So let's imagine you're the SUU coach. Your player is out of control on one series. He remains out of control on the next and gets a 15-yard penalty. What do you do? Well... you put him BACK in the game on the next series, of course. And guess what? He gets another unsportsmanlike penalty and gets tossed from the game. Nice coaching, Wes Meier.
No class. The whole series of classless behavior kept SDSU and the crowd in the game and probably made the beating even worse. I'm sure it's frustrating to have your rear end handed to you like that. But I have seen SDSU teams take their lumps and behave like grownups. And maybe I'm spoiled by Stig and our coaches, but I kind of expect coaches not to tolerate that sort of chippy garbage.
