I suggested that he would make a tough D-lineman last year but needed to add weight, 6'5" and 205lbs last year just wouldn't cut it. If he's up to 225 (and add more every year) or so he looks like he could be a force at DE.

Coach Stig said that he has been moved to the DE position because there is somewhat of a language barrier and it is hard to pick up the terminolgy & the reads of the linebacker position. He has been hitting the weight room hard and working on gaining weight.

Stig has indicated during his travels around the state talking about his incoming freshman class that he would rather talk about the redshirt freshman because he has actually seen them practice and has a better feel for what they can do. That is what he will do next year rather than discuss incoming freshman that he really has no clue how they will perform once they arrive on campus. I too think we will have some true freshman that will be hard to keep off the field just like this year. This is partly because they are talented, but more because we need depth in certain positions.

I understood this was a huge barrier and that he may be too difficult to overcome. In speaking with some who know more than I it was my understanding that he would be no more than an occasional/spot player on D and special teams. Perhaps that will change over the summer but I understood he was still a big work in progress.

I'd like to add bonehead Refs as well in the endzone. I saw at least two pass interference calls missed in the endzone. I'd like to see someone else than the D2 group.

Has he said anything specific about the RS freshman?

                Re: Stengths/Weaknesses

He certainly referenced Hank Goff who has stepped up and really contributed as a true freshman. I think a glimpse into who has impressed can be found on the offensive/defensive and scout team player of the weeks.

                Offensive Defense Special Teams

                Monke Bazata Rogers
                Koskovich Johnson Herman
                Steffan Jackson Grimlie
                Haroldson Bazata Steffan
                Bender Blackman Monke
                Steffan Johnson Fox
                Crawford Jackson Blackman
                Haroldson Herman Johnson
                Bender Herman Fox

I think Herman from Luverne might be a guy to look out for as he has good size for a linebacker. I think we got some good players out of Arizona last year that will make an impact. Fox and Johnson out of Iowa also seem to be making plays in practice,

well looking at the roster they lost some pretty good guys on both lines. And the receivers are not young but haven't made alot of contributions (with Davis there the past four years), the QB situation looks shaky...but the RB's and TE's look to have lost no-one. the LB's lost Billy Ray and his experience but gain athleticism and speed with the RSFR Jackson and Johnson. Plus Having Marty Kranz won't hurt and Hoogaveen. DB's seems to be a ? but the potential is there, I think they need some people to step-up this spring.
