There is no way USD can claim "we can't help playing who we play" if they're left on the outside looking in because of their weak schedule next year if they're backing out of the toughest game on the schedule. Anyone know what reasons USD gave for backing out?

I'm sure it was a mistake to begin with. They thought it was Upper Northern Iowa instead of the University of Northern Iowa. They just don't get it.

IMVERYHO, this may be a case of UND desires to test waters of D-1AA, with a quality program that has UND ties. Plus, from the UNI side, they need a "powderpuff" game (D2) because they have a very tough road back to the playoffs.

USD doesn't know if they're interested in D-1, and don't have confidence that this isn't a "Bodybag" game for them. They are hoping to make the D2 playoffs, and this may be tough to do with Panthers to play. To quote Ogden Nash (limericks) "should you be called by a Panther, Don't anther!"
