Tough way to open the season with five straight road games including Youngstown State, Montana State, Cal Poly, an improving UNC team and probably a I-A top ten team in TCU.
UC-Davis is on the quarter system, I believe, and starts classes later than than SDSU (and most schools in this region). Hence, they may prefer to backload their home schedule to maximize student attendence.

The original intent was to play as many home games in the new stadium and it did not look like it would be ready in Sept. Unfortunately it looks like they will not play their first game there until the 2007 season.
I am sure that pushing their home games to the back of their schedule will certainly increase their season attendance numbers unless they take a beating in the first five games.
