Iowa's a good team, I will admit that. Just not elite in the same sense as Michigan and Ohio State. If they keep it up for 20 years, maybe. It's just that Michigan and Ohio State are good not just year-in and year-out but decade-in and decade out. If you were asked to fill out the top-25, but I didn't tell you what year, you would probably be correct if you put Michigan and Ohio State in there somewhere, no matter what year it was.

As far as why Iowa is paying Montana 600K, I'm mystified. It seems they overpaid.

Sure, Iowa's elite status is up for debate, but a team like Rutgers. Now we can agree on their status as easily an elite program, right? I bet they pay out something like $2 million. Just thinking outloud here.

This article, which said that Montana will get paid $650K, will help explain Iowa's payout to the Grizz, which includes a $50K buyout of a game with D-2 Cent. Washington.
