Nicholls State seeks another title bid

A season of firsts for Nicholls State University in 2005 created something else new for the Colonels during the offseason.

After two years of off-field controversy, NCAA trouble and an abrupt coaching change, the Nicholls program got a taste of something different: an offseason punctuated by success and momentum.

The Colonels snapped off a five-game winning streak to end the 2005 regular season and snatched a share of the Southland Conference championship for the first time since joining the league in 1991. That late charge also catapulted Nicholls to its first NCAA playoff appearance since 1996.

All I know about Nicholls State is that we get them a couple of weeks after they make a trip to Lincoln to play Nebraska.

They'll probably be rested up and ready to play!

Should be a great crownd in the stands since it's a 7:00 kick. Tailgating should be sweet that night!

Tailgating might be sweet, but what would you consider a great crowd at Nicholls?   They aren't known for large crowds.

You got to come Lake Charles the next week for tailgating and a crowd.
