  • Re: Wisconsin-La Crosse

The field conditions were terrible, but were the same for each team and UW-L took care of the ball much better than we did. What exactly is the agreement with BHS on their using the field? I realize it has something to do with our baseball playing at Shelden Field, but does anyone know the particulars. If this is going to continue I would say we need to look into a tarp to cover the field or go to turf. I realize it rained during the BHS and Mitchell game, but a tarp would have at least kept the the rain off until late Friday afternoon. It is a good thing that we will not be back on it for a month.
The personal foul penalties seem to be a problem every week. We had more 15 yard penalties than UW-L had in total penalties. When the conditions are like they were last night field postion becomes even more important and we cannot afford to just give away 15 yards.

If I recall correctly, BHS, the city and a group called Bobcat Backers contributed several thousand dollars towards the purchase of lights for CAS. In exchange BHS would play their FB games at CAS. Also there was an exchange that allows SDSU to use the Fishback Soccer Complex. The Fishback family donated the land to the city so that too is probably part of the arrangement between City Parks/BHS and SDSU. Also SDSU has used Bob Shelden Field for baseball since Huether park on campus is now the parking lot north of Frost.  These are some of the major items for facility use exchange. I probably am not complete, but its what I know and what I can recall.

I dont think one game lost on a muddy field will change anything. SDSU has a good relationship with the City Parks and Rec, City Gov and anyone else who has been part of these arrangements and renegoitating anything seems unlikly to me.

Thanks for the info. If I would have looked a little closer at all the posts I could have put part of this in the part about the field conditions.

I dont know if this is a consolation or not, but the print version of the Argus Leader has only a 5 paragraph article in the left hand corner of the front page. The SF high school bowl games at Howard Wood is the big front page news this Sunday.
