This is why I'd like to see the overall facilities improvement plan before jumping with both feet into the Field Turf Now! parade.

But, as I mentioned before, if the field problems create enough of a crisis attitude that wallets might open a bit wider than might otherwise be the case, then there might be a silver lining underneath all of that mud. And that would not be a bad thing, IMHO.

It's all about taking the short-term negative and turning it into a long-term positive.

I think that Filbert has been granted global intelligence with the global moderator title.

Of course we need to consider the overall plan before we have any knee jerk reactions on this, except for the knee jerk reaction of sending a check with the knowledge that SDSU Athletic officials will spend it wisely.

Whether or not to change the playing surface should be considered as part of the larger plan.  We are aware of ideas to add seating on the east side of the field.  It has been proposed to build at the north end of the field, whether that be locker rooms and training facilities or whether it includes seating.  Someone suggested lowering the current field.  That has been stated to be impractical, at least for the amount of elevation that it would take to add seating.  However, the elevation has to be considered if seating is to be added to any side of the field.  The elevation has to be considered if locker rooms and training facilities are to be added.  The integrity of the concrete in the current stadium facility needs to be considered as part of the master plan.

A good master plan might include moving the current field location down a foot or two, or east or north by a few yards.  Somebody probably has a desire to rotate it ninety degrees and play east and west.  (I hope that guy has really deep pockets!)  These are among the things that need to be decided with proper analysis before spending hundreds of thousands of dollars that might inappropriately limit future decisions.  I'm quite certain that the Athletic Department officials and the University Administration are on top of this and won't do anything that is not in the best long term interest of the University.

It's probably time to move on from this subject for a while and let those in power determine the best direction for the future.

Keep the real turf! BHS has lights at their field. Heck, I remember a night practice there in preparation for an away game at Cal Davis(before someone decided that for a donation for lighting at CAS, the BHS fb team could play at CAS). By by Bobcats. Thank you kindly for the lights.

          Re: Field Turf

I always loved playing on CAS because it was always the nicest playing surface in the NCC. Over the years though it seems the wear and tear, weather, and other crazy mishaps have taken it's toll. I'm all in favor of field turf at this point. The surface is about as good as it gets. It's not like we're talking astroturf on top of concrete. I know there are arguments both ways, but had I been told that field turf was going in and gotten to test it out as a player I would have been behind it 100%.
