After three straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Josh Ranek had established himself as a Canadian Football League standout.
But after coming to Hamilton as a free agent, the former Bon Homme High and South Dakota State star has had a trying season, one marked by injury and inactivity. A player used to being the workhorse has had his number called much less often than he's been accustomed to. And a knee injury has sidelined him for much of this month.
He hurt the knee in Hamilton's Sept. 4 game against Toronto. He has not played since. He is inactive for Saturday's game against British Columbia, and Hamilton officials say he is "week-to-week." Hamilton has a bye next week and then two games left in its season.
