Wow! Looks like we really rattled the McNeese State coach with our win.
    He resigned today!

Nawh, that wasn't what did him in. He butted heads too many times with President over the off the field discipline (or non-discipline) of players and finally lost. There was a incident on the road trip to Toledo that came the light right before our game that eventually was the final straw. He was given the choice of resigning or being fired.

            Thanks Doc

This is what I heard on the local sports show, where they read a press release or news article, I don't which it was but basically I recall that your coach attended a number of things as head coach on Tuesday and had until the end of the day to resign, but instead took the firing as his way out.

I think your President did the right thing, as you want to protect the integrerity of your school. No matter how gifted an individual is athletically, they are still there for academic reasons too and they represent McNeese as institution of higher learning on the field. When the athlete forgets how important it is to represent their school, then the coaching staff is not doing their job in instilling this importance to the athletes. I dont buy this notion that the coach can't watch the athletes 24/7. Its part of his program and if you can't do that part, you should not be the head coach.

I had wondered if the timing does not give McNeese more time to form a selection committee, advertise the job and allow time to select a qualified replacement before spring ball starts?  You could not do this if you waited until the end of the season to fire the coach. So as brutal as it seems, I think McNeese will be more than okay. It looks like you have had a great program and will continue to do so into the future under different leadership.
