Well, if he gets 2 touchdowns in 5 carries you'll get to see him work.

Matt Dougherty's (Sport Network) prediction for the Jacks/Statemen game.
William Penn (NAIA, 4-5) at No. 24 South Dakota State (5-3), 2:00
For the first time since moving to I-AA in 2004, South Dakota State has earned a spot in the top 25. Few would have predicted that success after a loss to Wisconsin-LaCrosse and an 0-3 start to the season, but wins against name programs like McNeese State, Cal Poly and UC Davis have the Jackrabbits on the map and playing as well as just about any team. They had to come back from a late fourth-quarter deficit to beat McNeese State and Cal Poly, and did it again on Saturday with a touchdown pass from Andy Kardoes to Dusty Snyders with 1:08 to play to provide a 22-21 win over the Aggies. The defense has done its job and the offense has come through in the clutch, but the Jackrabbits could really use an opponent that won’t push them into the final minutes. Bring on William Penn, which, for those of you who care, is an NAIA school in Iowa and nicknamed the Statesmen. They are playing a I-AA team for the third year in a row, and lost by 50 to Southern Illinois in 2004 and 28-0 to Maine in 2005. South Dakota State should do the same, and get a tune-up win before trying to close out with a Great West title by winning the final two games. Prediction: South Dakota State 41, William Penn 7
I've got some family obligations to take care of in Volga this weekend, so I'll seize the moment and take in the Jacks game vs Wm Penn on Saturday, as well as exhibition basketball games on Friday night and Sunday night. I want to make it to the volleyball game with NDSU on Saturday night too, still not sure if that will work. Should be a great Jackrabbit weekend. ;D
I just realized that the NDSU game on the 18th is our 28th anniversary. That could prove to be problematic. Mrs Walrus does not care for football.

Keep your head up, there are lots of fish in the sea. Its time to cut her loose and search out out a new Mrs. Walrus. The NDSU game on the 18th just might provide more than enough fish to choose from. Good luck. ;D
One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.
I don't know, there's not many out there who'd have me. Best keep what I got. ;D

I'm guessing around $20-30K, maybe a lil' bit more; SDSU got $50K to play (and beat) Southern two years ago.
When Meierkort spoke down here in Yankton he wasn't specific but I think the 15-30K range is accurate. He would only say more than 10K, in fact I think thats exactly what he said. We might be paying William Penn a little more than what UCA paid or it might be less. I don't know if their NAIA status affects the amount or not.
No idea what the guarantee from Ball St. was. I bet one of the Bison guys can enlighten us.

We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
The numbers for Southern were a bit elevated as they were an attempt to get Southern to come back to Brookings. The deal was they pay us 50 and we'll return the favor if they come up here to play us.
I would bet that the numbers are between 10 and 15 considering the distance they have to travel. I think we wouldn't pay much more than 20 unless we were totally desperate!
Back to William Penn and this weekend. Weather report looks favorable, mid 50's and no precip. Won't even need the coveralls. Long johns for sure, though. I suppose I could hunt but that can wait another couple of weeks.
Planning to head back Friday night, no wife or kids so I can hit the town! Not expecting much to be going on. Will probably make an appearance at the women's BB game, just depends on time of arrival.
Any of you boys going to be around Friday night? Where to after the women's game?

I underestimated the temp last week. The sun didn't come out during the game and it was a bit cold with the wind. I'm bringing more layers this week and hopefully won't have to yell as much.
ya if the forcast is for 50 asume 45. after two winters up in brookings i think this is the coldest place in the state, my hometown of chamberlain is always way warmer. anyway, last week i made sure to overdress since it was cloudy out. some of other students actually left early last week since they were underdressed and needed to warm up. After the game i went to jacks place where some of my friends who left early were eating, they did not believe me when i said we had won. i guess i they though i would have been more excited, but really i wasn't that surprised that we came back and won. the question was always when not if we would come back to win i felt.
