Three Jacks receive Academic All-District honors
Three South Dakota State University football players, including first-team selections Parker Douglass and Cory Koenig, have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Team.
Douglass, a junior kicker from Columbus, Neb., was a repeat selection to the University Division first team. The holder of 14 school records, Douglass carries a perfect 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in biology.
Koenig, a junior running back from Underwood, Iowa, moved to the first team after earning second-team honors in 2005. Koenig, who leads the team in rushing with 541 yards, has compiled a 3.77 GPA majoring in biology.
Both Douglass and Koenig will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Named to the second team was offensive lineman Mitch Erickson. The junior from Hutchinson, Minn., earned a spot on the academic honor squad with a 3.24 GPA in mechanical engineering.
