    Re:  QB's for 2007 poll

Not disputing what you say, goon, but before this turns into a smash Kardoes thread. We will have a difficult time replacing Andy's leadership, toughness and arm strengh. His accuracy was not good at times. I think after the offseason, spring practice and fall camp they will have the best candidate to lead the team next season. There alot of different qualities that will be evaluated. Looking forward to it

      Really???
Kardoes's arm was 70% of the reason we won as many games as we did last year, especially the fourth quarter comeback wins, and I would have to say that Stig didn't open up the offense as much as maybe he should have in some of those games. Nothing against Stig's coaching,
I will be the first one to admit that I was not a Kardoes fan at the beginning of the year, but that kid showed more toughness and "armstrength" this past year than any QB SDSU has had in a long, long, long time.

From what I've heard of Jeske is that he is a slightly smaller version of Kardoes. A good runner, maybe not the cannon of Kardoes, but might have a little better touch on his ball. I like the sound of Jeske, but his size is what might bother me a bit. He would fit nicely in that often used sprint out pass mode. I don't know much about Crawford, seems like he could be up or down. Berry and Burkhardt seem like the best bets to me. Neither, really have had a chance to shine, but being the elders of the group, one has to defer to their potential wisdom at this point. However, like what's been said before, there is along time yet to wait.

Agreed. Kardoes has a gun for an arm, his only trouble was accuracy from time to time. He made a believer out of me with his leadership and clutch play last year once he was healthy, though.
          Holy nutmeg!

I have no intention of insulting or bashing him kardoes, but there were many times that his arm failed us as well as saved us. It was like a different guy from the start of the season who ended it. Everything else about him was a winner, he will be missed. I was just pointing out that he had to use it a lot to bail us out and didnt seem to use it to set us up. I think a more of a pocket passer could have utilized the recievers better but his ability to get out a run and pass still was maybe his best weapon. Look back to last year, berry had more TDs then he did passing and such. But i will say he surely improved his arm and took us for a great year after a slopy start.

I can't disagree with any of that. Kardoes seemed to pass better once they moved him around a bit. Early in the year, they seemed to want him to be a pocket passer and that wasn't really his game. Later, after his confidence had improved, he also improved his pocket passing, but he seemed more comfortable throwing on the move.

As would I considering what I've heard about the QB spot for next year.  I'm not saying he's a lock but it sounds like he's getting consideration.  [/quote]

The players I have talked to have mentioned Jeske. I am happy to let Stig and the coaches decide.

Isn't one of the QB prospects also known as the superhero: SUPERUNDERWEAR MAN! (for riding a bicycle into Frost Arena during the NDSU men's game last year, wearing his tidy-whities and a cape?  Superunderwear Man!)

So it sounds like the QB spot is pretty much wide open as far as we can tell. what is the rest of the skilled positions looking like? Koineg for running back and Harris and Wagner as the top recieving threats? We lose much on the Oline at all?

Not really we got Pro prospect Mitch Erickson returning for his senior year.

Here is how you decide who your qb is, you make the decision on wheather Iverson or a qb recruit for 08 is going to be he qb of the future if thats the case you go for the jr or the sr. If not I think you have to go with the redshirt freshman, if his talent is good enough to be the starter make him learn at the position let this coming year be the growing pains year then decide if he is still what you want going into playoff elgibility. I though I heard on here or somewhere that they had a possible tranfer for illinois is that a possiblility also?

Just a little note on Kardoes, which many of you probably already know...but he is going to be attending Augustana this next fall and playing for the Vikings. Since he had a medical redshirt when SDSU was still Division II (no medical redshirts in D 1), he has a year of eligibility left. He did a tremendous job for us last fall and I wish him the best of luck at Augie. He is a competitor!!!
