Ebke won't lament lack of D-I interest

Jim Ebke had as close to a dream season as a football player can have.

He led Lincoln East to a dramatic turnaround, from 1-8 his junior year to 8-3 and the quarterfinals of the Class A playoffs last fall.

The Spartans weren’t eliminated until the final play of their 14-6 loss at Millard South. Patriot coach Andy Means was so sure Ebke would get into the end zone on the Spartans’ final snap, he said he’d already started thinking about defending a two-point conversion attempt that would have tied the game.
Ebke was named the first-team Super-State quarterback and an honorary captain after he rushed for 1,549 yards and passed for another 1,225, completing 50 percent of his attempts. Over his final two seasons, he compiled 4,586 total yards.

Aside from all Ebke's athletic talents...a 4.2 GPA in high school. I'd have to say this is one we should be excited about.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it, they clarify what they mean in the article.

South Dakota All State Quarterback -- Brad Iverson

Brad Iverson, senior football and basketball player at Roosevelt High School was reflecting on the football season prior to their awards banquet and about some adversities the team had overcome. What he realized was what the team had overcome and accomplished (state title) was nothing compared to some of the adversities family members of his teammates were facing right now. He listed three parents of players/cheerleaders that were currently battling cancer or had recently overcome cancer. He then came up with a plan. He was going to challenge everyone at the banquet to donate what they could toward the American Cancer Society and he would cut his hair (as he had let his hair grow out during the football season). Well, blondie (Brad) came down with the flu the night of the banquet. He wrote up his thoughts and his request, typed up donation slips, and sent his mother Veda to the banquet to read his letter. In less than 5 minutes, Brad encouraged his teammates and their families enough to raise over $1000 to give to the American Cancer Society. Brad made a short appearance at the end of the banquet to learn of the news, and a few days later, arrived to school with short hair. I was not amazed so much by the challenge to donate money and cut his hair, but that such a strong letter and deep thoughts about life, bigger than any game these athletes will ever play, came from such a young mind. – Submitted by Jennifer VanDerMillen, Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School[ch56256][ch56473]

Hey... just heard some exciting news... maybe its old news tho... Andrew Coughlin from DeSmet has been asked by the coaching staff to attend the spring practices and possibly recieve a chance to walk on. I know he was one heck of a player at DeSmet. I'm not sure where he'd play for us but possibly at linebacker.

I've heard this as well. The coaches had some guys recently come in and work out and Andrew got an invitation to come to spring ball and try to prove himself. He was quite a player in high school so it will be interesting to see if Andrew can make anything out of his opportunity.
