Sounds like Missouri State is looking to make a splash with a high profile name (with a lot of baggage) for their next head coach. Reports are they are down to Bobby Petrino or Art Briles. Will be interesting to see if they have any more support/luck than Steckel.

Petrino it is. Must be a tough place to win though, because their previous 2 coaches also weren't slouches by any means. Terry Allen is one of the more successful FCS coaches there was with his run at UNI in the 90s, then a failed (like everyone) attempt at KU and a coordinator at Iowa State. Steckel was a successful and respected coordinator at Missouri. Quite frankly I don't see this lasting more than a few years nor him being too successful. When you've coached the Falcons, Arkansas, Louisville, and multiple shady things or scandals, something is bound to go wrong - either he will miss the big time programs or bring another scandal onto himself.
