So your definition of "fluke" is 1 game in which one team significantly outplays the other in about every facet of the game to earn a victory? It might have been a "1 off" compared to the rest of their schedule, but they took it to NDSU that day. Doesn't fall under the definition of fluke to me.

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes (still, several weeks later) about something that USD has done that we can't seem to figure out how to get accomplished.

USD is trending up and are improving. I don't understand why some SDSU fans can't give them credit for that.

That mobility of TC sure paid off today. Too bad we had to have our statue of a backup quarterback come in and bail him out.

Atta boy Zach. Let those doubters keep hatin'.

I see you ignored the rest of the teams i listed and just focused on the NDSU win. You sound just like an USD fan.

USD was trending upwards 2 years ago too. They beat ndsu, so bravo to them.

But they were also rocked by Youngstown and Western.
They've got a ways to go, to finish as high as sdsu did in our 1st year in the Valley.

So I get the resentment of them. If they finished as high as sdsu did, once, we'd never hear the end of it.

The mobility of TC was worth a TD today, if you noticed we won by a touchdown. So, if posters prefer TC to Zach, they're haters?

First off no way we're 8-2 without either of these QB's. Secondly we don't win the IL St game with Lujan and we probably don't win with TC today. We need them both. I don't think I've read any posts of guys "hatin'" on Lujan. Just that TC's overall skill set is there. Lujan is a leader, he did what we needed him to do. Lead the team. TC was off, the line had issues for 3 qtrs, guys dropped balls and the D spent 3 qtrs learning to tackle. Not all TC but he had issues. Lujan stepped in and ice in his veins brought us back, the D fed off this and woke from the dead.

The U is a very good team. The only gimme in the valley is MO St right now. Hands down best FCS conference top to bottom.

The U got drubbed by Ysu on d-day...i have no problem not giving them any credit. Onto the next game...I for 1 am just glad this weekend is over just like I am every year.

IMO Lujan should start here on out until it's forsure(not 1 possession) that our o-line can't give enough protection to let the best player on the field...JW... EVERY game do his thing. If you don't think Jake is more comfortable with Lujan you're just kidding yourself.

TC is going to be great...but he's still a TRUE freshmen.
                SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

What a straight dumbass post. I and many others have advocated for TC as quarterback, and if you somehow interpret that as "hatin'" on Lujan, you're lost. I thought TC gave us a better chance going forward. If Zach comes in and proves that wrong, do you really think some Jacks fans are going to be upset about that? I cheer for SDSU, not Zach Lujan or Taryn Christion or any other individual.

My bad I was thinking of a different game. I will agree that Jake seems to be more engaged with Zach but his relationship with TC is coming along. Jake had an incredible game with both QB's, that with him dropping, for him, a gimme pass. He also had a couple difficult ones that most of the times he wins. As Stig said in post game, we have yet to play the complete game. When we do.....unstoppable.

                    • Re: 2015 USD GDT

Some football thoughts from the game:

                      - On the first USD TD, we brought the safety from that side of the field on a blitz that left the middle of the field wide open. Seemed like a strange decision because we don't blitz that often, and when we do, it's usually the linebackers or on 3rd down.

                      - The USD running back was getting a lot of yards from missed tackles as mentioned on here, but the other big way they were killing us was on cutbacks. We'd get pretty solid push on the way that the USD run play was designed to go, but the RB would cut back and we wouldn't have anyone there.

                      - At the start of the game USD got some pretty good yards on the quick WR throws, but I thought we did a really good job of adjusting and bottling it up.

                      - Our lack of run game is going to bite us in the ass at some point. I'm not sure what we need to do differently, but without a consistent run game I think we'll get stopped by a team that can shut down Jake.

                      - On the second TD Paris scored with the heavy formation, we actually did something different! The upback/dlinemen shifted to the strong side of the formation, and we ran it back to the weak side. We may have done that in the past, but it seems like the majority of the time we run to the strong side in that formation.

                      - One thing I've noticed, that may be anecdotal, but since I've started paying attention to it, I haven't seen it not happen: whenever we take Wieneke off the field, even if we still have 3 WRs in, we'll always run the ball. Not that we don't run it when he's in, cause we do. But whenever he comes out of the game, it's always a run. I feel like a good team will notice that trend and punish the predictability of it.

                      - I actually liked the decision on the last drive that SDSU had to throw it deep to Wieneke on that 3rd and 5. He's the best player on our team, let him make a play. Lujan threw a really good ball, but the USD defender made a nice play. I thought the questionable decision was to take Lujan out on the 2nd down play.

                      - USD's use of trick plays seemed odd. The first one was fine. It was early, and it definitely caught SDSU off guard. But the last 2 seemed strange, especially the WR pass into the end zone. That can't be a high percentage play, and to use it in a high pressure situation ... seemed dumb.

                      Really fun game!

Seriously, you Lujan only guys need to get over yourselves. Notice how quiet ya'll have been till today. Just wait in the shadows to make bitchy little comments when the guy you don't like has a tough outing. Very classy.

I have been totally off the bandwagon for the two QB thing, but count me as a believer now. Both guys are great and the coaches seem to be managing it very well. Kudos to them IMO.

I really don't know what to think. Christion obviously brings athleticism that Lujan doesn't, but Lujan hasn't done anything to warrant the bench. Lujan provided the spark today. Christion has provided the spark in past games.

I'll let the coaches decide and enjoy the ride!

Also, I'll eat crow, as I pretty much assumed SDSU was doomed...it was that exact scenario I've mentioned in the past that we always seem to flub, but this time with an added dimension, the in state rivalry....Riding high, climbing up the ranks, and playing a team we should beat....it was looking like it was going to come to fruition but what do you know....we found a way to get it done.

I was ready to never go back to the Dome. We still haven't beaten USD in the dome in basketball in D1 while I've been there. 2-0 in football now, though!

You must have missed the game in 2013-14. The students had some signs talking about Dykstra's toilet habits and the Jackrabbits won.

TC looked like a true Freshmen today. I don't know if the pressure of a big game, dome or speed of game got to him but he was off. TC needs to improve on his passing or teams will keep saying, "beat us with your passing game." The bail out and scramble is not the answer time and time again. Pocket passing needs to happen as well for TC to be successful. It's not high school ball anymore.
