Tell me about it. I was at the first game and the last game at CAS. Those Arkansas State Indians were pretty good, but we went down their and beat their arses, the next year. I remember going to a game late October 1965 where we could not keep up with Mankato State Teachers College, not a great crowd. I sat by a member of the Brookings County Draft board from Sinai and he knew me and my family. I told I was going to enlist on Monday in the US Navy. He told me "Good choice, we are going to start drafting in January(1966). At any rate, this morning I am looking at top back of my seat from CAS, and have saved my ticket. It will not be the same next year, but I think even us old timers will adjust.

Student attendance at the lower attended games this year has definitely not been great. However, keep in mind that the new student section holds 1400 more students in it (3600 vs 2200). These smaller student crowds would not look as small and empty if the students were still in section A and B. It's the unfortunate reality of the larger student section. Some of these weak student crowds seem much weaker than they actually are, due to the larger empty space. I will also add that two games this year set student attendance records (SUU and NDSU). Keep that in mind.

Secondly, the problem is students choosing to leave Brookings on the weekend. There are very few students that spend Saturdays in the fall shut up in the dorm room or doing something else in town. Most kids that stay in town go to the game. Too many students go home. How you stop that, I have no idea. It is a culture problem, and it needs to be fixed. The Barnyard Cadets are a student group that are trying to reincorporate traditions and engage more students in all aspects of SDSU, including (but not limited to) athletics and the student section. Things like the Game Day Walk, the State Shout Pep Rally, the 2000+ cowbells given to freshmen at the beginning of the year, etc. are all trying to create that culture. Ultimately, no one but the student can decide if they want to stay on campus for a home game, or run home. Many students choose the latter, especially on long weekends or against opponents they have no concept of.
Do any of you think that student attendance, at least among the "casual" student fans, may suffer due to the student section being directly below the scoreboard speakers? We have seats on east side near 20yd line, and the speakers can be loud there at times, so I cannot imagine how loud it is at far south end. Obviously, that cannot explain all of the non-attendees, given fact that students have showed up in prior games this season, but it may be one factor.

Also, is it too early to be stoked about renewing my season tickets for next season? GBGBGJ!!

A number of people have complained, and I can't imagine the admin does not realize they have a problem and are working on a solution. I have not seen details of the configuration of the facility but no doubt a score board for the north end of the stadium would be part of it. Sound control? I have no clues.

Yes, gotta get video on the north end asap, if you are sitting south of the 30 yard line its tough to tell what's going on. Lower profile sight lines on the west side will compound the problem I think. I don't think the noise is a problem. Kids like loud music.

so if the Jacks were seeded (if they got seeded) high enough for the playoffs and could have a home game what are they going to do.

Why would we want to host in that dump.

Being a student the noise level being too loud in the student section has not crossed my mind nor have I heard any negative remarks about it. However, the scoreboard being behind us is a problem and many have complained about that. A video board on the north end would be nice, but score, down and distance, etc would be appreciated.
